Hi guys. I am a table installer. I have covered around 200 tables now . I am noticing lately after install i have stretch lines from baulk to foot.i use the method from real king cobra using a stretch index pulling from side to side. How ever this is mostly napped cloth i am installing(Strachan 6811) .i start from the sides then i do the ends like the American way. never had any issues with stretch lines before. i am starting to pull a little tighter from side to side with a stretch index of 65 mm. Lately i have been going around 70 mm and last 2 installs i'm noticing lines (like the weave lines)going length of table. Is it possible i can be pulling this type of cloth too tight from side to side?Strachan 6811 stretches much more from side to side than it does length ways. I had my first complaint in a club where they run an evaporative air con with not much air escape, saying cloth very slow and they saying when they use the napping block the cloth is gathering up into a heap. I feel i cant pull this cloth any tighter on end rails. Any help would be appreciated.

You have to back off on the side to side and move that stretch to the ends. The end to end stretch has to be twice as much as the side to side is. And that cloth does have a lot of side to side, so back off until the end to end stretch is equal to the side stretch, 2 to 1 stretch.

ah great appreciate it. so lets say i back it off to 50 mm on just the stretch side. i would be looking to pull 50mm from head rail as well as 50 mm on foot rail?

When you back off the side to side stretch to eliminate the shadows, that stretch gets picked up again when you stretch the ends, which then tightens the side to side, maintaining a 2 to 1 stretch.

That's what this tool is used for, my new stretch index jig
