Hey guys I'm new to the 14.1 section here and I just want to say hi. Ive been playing straight pool almost exclusively fot the past month now and loving it. They say its pool's best teacher but i didnt realize it until yesterday when i played a few sets of 9 ball(yuck!) with a guy. I cant believe how easy it was. Thin cuts, shooting over balls, staying in line, safeties, everything was spot on except for long shots but there werent many of those because I was getting good shape. On one break the guy barely grazed the one leaving a giant cluster in the middle and he went to rerack but I just took ball inhand with a big smile on my face and picked the rack apart like a surgeon. Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share my enthusiasm for this new game (new to me) and thank you guys for all the resources and videos that have been posted. I love this game!

Glad to hear that we have gained another player, feel free to chime in on all of the threads !

we are all in it together here, and all love to share our not so vast knowledge of the game !!:p

Straight pool really is the Champion game. It's great to hear of new players discovering the wonders of 14.1. Simply put, there is nothing in pool like a high run in straight pool.

If you're interested in some DVD's, go through the AZ Marketplace to Seyberts and pick up the 2006 World Championships set. The whole set for $12:

About half the matches have commentary and there is some good straight pool played. And for that price it's basically free.
