Straight Pool League Looking for Prizes

Hey everyone I am currently running a straight pool league out of leisure time billiards in NY. We have fourteen players ranging from D- players all the way to open level players and everything in between. These guys have been having a great time playing for the last seven weeks and as we slowly but surely approach the end of our season I am wondering what to do for prizes.

Now our plan is to pay the first five guys cash from the prize pool but unfortunately that doesnt leave for much else.

Does anyone out there know of a way to get some kind of sponsorship from a company for some shirts and or merchandise if we are willing to advertise or something like that. In all honesty im not sure how it really works but would appreciate any info.

I've been working on that for sometime. I run a few leagues in Minnesota and the 14.1 association. I'm getting closer to getting sponsors, but it's difficult to do. About the only thing I'm having success with is having a sponsored added money state/region level tournament (and it hasn't started yet)

To start small, maybe ask the room owner where you play if they could give the league players a discount or something?

Sorry for the OT, but how do you guys handle cash prizes for the players?

We collect $5 a week from each player and $1 of that goes to high run awards ($0.50 for overall highest run, & $0.50 to highest run adjusted for handicap).

The room owner requires me to pay off all places so the $$$ gets spread REALLY thin. Even with last place getting 25% of their money back or $20 (16 weeks x $5 = $80), the winner gets a measly $40 profit ($120 award).

I would prefer to pay the top 1/3 of the field, but that just isn't gonna happen. The $1024 would get rounded to $1050 and broken down something like (1st: $300, 2nd: $250, 3rd: $200, 4th: $175, 5th: $125).

High runners would get something like $125 a piece.

We are paying cash to our top five players and the rest are getting prizes which i am trying to find desperately.

We charged a 20 dollar administration fee.
We charge 18.00 a week for dues as this is a singles league 10.00 into the prize pool and 8.00 to the room owner for the time. Players play two matches per week.

We run a twenty week season. We are currently on week seven.

I usually pay the top 2 or 3 spots, depending how many players, and also pay the high runner.

Our players pay table time separately, but the rooms give them discounts. I don't collect weekly fees anymore due to some players not showing up at the end of the season. I collect anywhere from $50 to $100 per player at the start of the season to cover the prize fund/administration.

I Personally think that the Highest run of the season should get the biggest prize.............

Oh did i fail to mention that i hold that title for now
