Strangest break I've ever seen

"Playing surface" was the center of the debate. The conclusion, voiced by many of those offering an opinion, was that since the cushions are covered in the same material as the slate, are considered part of the "playing surface".

I would have thought that only the slate itself is the surface, but having no dog in the fight (it was between two other teams) and being fairly new to league, I stayed out of it. A smart move, I'm sure.

Considering you being new to the game and how nitty and lame some players can be in league, I 100% understand how this could happen. But, it's a foul. If it wasn't, we could literally take ball in hand after a foul and shoot from the top of the cushion. Not sure why anyone would want to do that. Maybe some weird safety situation. But, seriously, do you think anyone in their right mind would think it's ok to place the ball on top of the cushion and shoot from there? I don't think so.

Besides that, thank you for asking. We have a ton of people who are new to the game and a ton of people who are very experienced. So what might seem like a no-brainer to some is a legit question to others.

There's a video of exactly this situation. Lowest ball is surrounded by others and on the cushion. Player has to jump to hit the ball because he is on two.
