Streaming a tournament

We have an annual tournament that has never been streamed before. I thought about just doing a stream on one table with a hd 8mp webcam broadcasting on Ustream. I was wondering if anyone can give me some more information about streaming as I have never done it.

We have one room with 7 tables. Once we send out the flyers you will see that we can only hold 48 spots, because of the room. It will be early March

It's pretty simple really. If you use the software provided from Ustream it is drop dead easy. I would just advise you to do plenty of testing before the event as something always needs tweaking it seems.

There are a couple of free to use software packages that give you some flexibility with your stream. As I am a noob with this as well I would not feel comfortable trying to support you with information. But if you are any kind of geek you will figure it out easy enough.

I recommend Open Broadcaster. It is not as fancy but it is more stable than Xsplit.

At Joes we have a http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/lifecam-studio#details

At home I have a http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/hd-pro-webcam-c920?crid=34

Both are less than $100. To get sounds going you will need a headset. As you can tell I haven't done that yet. Mainly because at Joes I am too busy running the tournament to stop and chat in most cases. At home it is because there ain't no one that wants to hear me sign along with the music I have playing
