Streaming Numbers

Justin said something Wednesday night on his podcast that made me curious a little. He said sooner or later he was going to get to fed up and frakkin just post up what the "Actual Revenue and Expense numbers are for a streaming event"

So I said to myself, let me see if I could produce a streaming model basing it on just one event. These numbers do not reflect any overhead costs, or any equipment that one must have. These numbers represent what just one streaming event might or might not cost / earn.

Please remember these are all fictitious numbers, I basically just started with what i do know, and did some research using Google of course. Please fee free to make any comments or add anything to it. I will adjust spreadsheet and re-post edits when changes need to be made.

If you want to download the spreadsheet i have attached it below..

I'd be willing to bet you've overlooked a few factors in your tallies . Think i heard Justin say he could make more money doing something else but he likes doing what he does. One of my brothers is a painter , kitchen and bathroom remodeler , cabinet refinisher . He constantly runs into people who act upset when he gives them a bid , the reason is is because they have figured his costs for him.

They figure his material costs and decide what he should charge.

unfortunately the (un-included)overhead can be the most expensive part.
the venue, utilities, insurance, the table, furniture, camera/lights/audio & computer equipment...

that $1000 you netted? forget about it.

Exactly. I do A/P - most people don't think of those things, or think very little of them. Even if he's spreading out the costs of the room, table and set-up, he'll still get monthly bills as well.

But, for the sake of argument, let's say he nets $1k..

How many hours go into setting these up? You have to coordinate people, arrange travel, yadda yadda yadda.. I'd put a conservative estimate at approximately 100 hours, including the production. That's a whopping $10/hr.. pretax.

He's busting his butt and doing a pretty good job at it.. somebody's always gonna go Earl over one thing or another. Kudos to TAR and I hope that it becomes a possible stream in every pool room. Why should people be watching the 10th rerun of Sports Center when you could be watching some of the best and up-and-coming pool players from all over?
