Striking the CB in the middle

No, in that part I was referring to the fact that a lot of females expect men to act according to what the female was thinking, not necessarily to what she actually said.;)

Ah, so a pool version of the movie, What Women Want? So if you, Neil, were in the role of Mel Gibson in that movie, what is TheThaiger thinking?

I found through practice that for me to hit center ball I have to line up what looks to me as a 1/2 tip below center. Sometimes you just have to learn what works for you.

I have to aim to the right of center, at least to me. Joe Tucker's Third Eye Stroke Trainer helped with that and this was after playing for a good many years. It's not just for beginners, for the op, but for people who may be experiencing an optical illusion as to where center ball is. You might be real surprised how many players this affects.

Depending on how the table's affecting my stance, I'm not always lined up the same way (either the cue's under my chin or it's under my right eye). I usually have a little bit of vertigo while I'm figuring out, while focusing on the object ball, whether I'm lining up the left-hand blurred out cue ('cause the cue's under my right eye) or whether I'm lining up in between two blurred-out cues ('cause the cue's under my chin). Once I figured out that little issue, I've been making a hell of a lot more of my shots.

I don't think it really matters what tools, friends, coaches, or tricks you use to make sure you're hitting center ball, as long as something eventually works.

99% of the shots I miss are because I haven't hit the cueball where I intended to. I even miss simple, straight drop shots sometimes because I haven't hit the CB dead in the centre. Measle balls makes this very easy to see.

Firstly, why does this occur?
Assuming your stroke is sound, the most probable cause for this is not having your vision aligned properly. To diagnose and fix this, see the information and drills here:

Secondly, is there any way of analysing where you are hitting the CB, which you can plot over time?
You can track the results of the drills described in the links above.

Good luck,
Dave
