Stuck in the land of 20s

There are lots of players that wish they could make the same statement. Enjoy and just let it happen.

What helped me get into 30, 40, 50+ land is to setup STEEP break shots and feel comfortable making them.

With a steep angle of attack, you don't have to hit your break shot hard and the end-product looks almost like an 8-ball break. From there, you feel a lot more comfy.

Hey Dennis what ive been learning from steve is basically patience and control. A lot of people have told me i play straight pool like i do nine ball and that ain't good apparently lol. Steve told me to stop counting dont worry about the number just play your patterns right make your break balls and it will happen. Keep shooting buddy.

I'm not exactly complaining. There were times when it would be many weeks between twenties.

Just got to keep on keeping on.

And... refine my fundamentals.

Well, it's off to the Billiard Club in a couple of hours. Danny Diliberto is teaching some guys on the back table and I need to video the lessons. Arnie is going to give 3 cushion instruction to anyone who wants it. And Jim Parker is putting out free soup and sandwiches for the members.:thumbup2:

It's a tough life but somebody has to do it.

I'm stuck there too! Heck, I'm happy lately to get to 20, or even into the second rack at all. My 9 ball game has improved so much over the last couple of years, but my 14.1 has gone to pot! No one here will play with me...

Dennis, how much is Danny D coming around to your parts? I'm going to be in the States from March through May, in the Wisconsin/Illinois area. Any chance he'll be around the IBC to give lessons at that time? Do you need to be a member there to get lessons from Danny?

I think he has been here three times in the last year. He may be around sometime during that time. You don't need to be a member as long as a member (me) allows you to come in as a guest.

Both John Schmidt and Danny Harriman have talked about coming up to Chicago to give some lessons and Bobby Hunter is available up here, too.

Here are a couple Danny lessons from yesterday:

That's great to know! I'd be thrilled to take lessons from any of those guys! Thanks Dennis!

Good shooting Dennis. I had a nice run end with a silly scratch just like that the other day. As soon as you made #29 and I saw the layout I chuckled that I thought you would lose the CB off that ball near the rail. Keep at it and keep posting.
