Stupid Question

I have a stupid question, I play with an OB-1 cue and shaft right now having come from a schon. My girlfriend ordered me a beautiful custom Bob Frey Ebony Sneaky with all the bells and whistles for christmas that I am getting next week. I have experience with cues in the thousand dollar range like high end schons, predators, mike morgan, and palmer.

My question is cues like tascarella, tim scruggs, south west, joss west and gina cue, are they really that different in hit? i have heard that tim scruggs cues and tascarellas if they have a stainless steel joint are quite comprable to schons.

Now having said that I do not know this as i have never played with either.

I repeat i was not the one who made that statement. lol i dont want the nit picks running back to tim or pete.

Let me know I am quite curious as this year i would like to buy one of each.

Thanks.

My Schon Ltd shoots nothing like my Scruggs. My Scruggs is so much stiffer it is not even close. It took me 2 weeks before I was used to my Scruggs, going from Schon to Scruggs.

lol lollol thhat she does. I think bob took a liking to her and wanted to get his wood in her hands.

I can only speak from my expierence with various hi end Josswest's
and Southwest's. If I closed my eyes and didn't know what cue I
had in my hand they feel very much the same to me (solid) if playing
with the stock 13mm's shafts on both. However, when using
a OB-1 on the cues they have a softer touch to them which is
noticeable. Now, playing with my wife's higher end Mcdermott I
could tell the difference right off-just not the solid feel I get from
the higher end cues, but still a very nice hit compared to that of
any house cue or mass manufactured cue, Again the shaft, joint,
and various wood materials used will differ from cue to cue. I like
ivory or wood to wood joints and some prefer SS.

My recommendation is this. Wait until the Scruggs comes in. Play with it for a month or so. If it plays well, then take a nail and scratch the butt a bunch of places and bust the butt in half across the floor. After that success, play with the thing for the rest of your life. Retip as necessary. Then focus your attention on your girlfriend. Priorities, priorities, priorities.

I have a couple Scruggs but use the same shaft for each. If I could get him to make that identical shaft 10 times I would buy all of them. I love the feel of Scruggs and Carmeli cues. However, you must have a Scruggs in your collection.
