Stupid random question about Ultimate Tip Tool

When the abrasive insert that comes with the tool needs replacing, I can't ever seem to get one of the replacement abrasive inserts to stick to the tool. I know pretty unimportant, random question but still curious if anyone knows the solution to this.

Clean with alcohol.

Tried cleaning with alcohol earlier today. Unfortunately, it didn't help.

Think I am going to go back to the Cue Cube.

My humble but worthy suggestion:

I have one of those tools and it's my favorite by far. I just replaced the abrasive too and am having that issue with the dime side. I mostly use the nickle side and since it's a little less curved it seems to be holding.

I theorize that the best option would be to find some appropriately sized marbles are ball bearings and place them in there with a clamp to hold pressure on the insert while the adhesive sets. But I have neither handy and haven't bothered getting any yet to try.

I've had my Ultimate tool for over 20 years now and it still works great. Also have a Last 4 Ever and they're nice but less versatile and bigger, prefer my Ultimate.

You should go back to a solid scuffer but one thing that will work is glue. Gorilla glue should do it. Also you can get laser etched metal instead of sandpaper. Easier to change.
