Looking for ideas for a cue. Been out of the game and most of the terms on here I don't understand. I had an old muecci when in HS that I like and now have a Shmelke sneaky that is just okay.

Looking for a simple cue with a nice soft hit. I like a soft fell, don't really like the tink of a stainless joint. Any thoughts?

I was looking at Cuemaster98's ferrule-less cues and was interested in some of the McDermotts, people seem to like. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I don't care if it look like it went through a war. Just a dead straight cue with a sick hit! Thanks.

Krbsailing,

Thanks for the response. I am new so go slow with me. So you actually made this? I saw this in my search and was intrigued. You made this from an old house cue. What does it play like? Why 60 inches? What are the advantages/ disadvantages of the length? Any other info would help. I like the look and character of it, but I just too new at this.

you sir need to get a dickie built. he makes a not so sneaky pete the hits lights out. he cant be found in the ask the cue builder section:thumbup:

search with cues with a small pin, phenolic or wood collar, and parabolic shaft w/ abs ferrules and you will find that soft hit.........waitaminute, that's a meucci i just described.

you can search for wood pin cues from 3c cuemakers as well.

Fonz,

I thought muecci's were no good anymore??

Also, what is abs ferulle and what are 3c cuemakers??
Thanks.

You know, I would seldom post about cues under $200 but last night a young friend had a cue laying on the table and while he went to the bar I hit some shots with his cue. It was an Action Cue and it hit exceptionally well. I was a bit surprised when he told me he bought it for $75. It had a slight wobble in the shaft but it wasn't what I would call a bad wobble.

Try to find someone who is selling a SneakiestPete.... I have one and LOVE it!!!!

Or, any of the actual US made McD's (ie. non-Star ones). You can get a really good deal on one from Nielsens Billiards.

I bet you can find a used Viking or Joss in the price range you are looking at. Check out the buy/sell forum here. I don't think you can go wrong with either

that would be a matter of opinion, to some they don't have much collectable value anymore, but as far as playability goes, the older ones, red dot shaft or earlier are just fine. because of the lack of current popularity, you could probably find a nice cue for a very reasonable price.

ABS is a form of plastic which is used for meucci ferrules and some cuetecs.

3C stands for three cushion billiards. i think that wood pin cues tend to have a softer hit than cues with a metal pin.

Mods moved i guess. I originally was trying to post in the Wanted/for sale forum to try to get some cues for sale from board members. Then it got moved o reviews and now here???? Strange.

Thanks all for the suggestions. What is the Dickie built cue?? Explain? I like something with some character, so I am leaning towards krbsailings 60 inch or the Jensen sp. Hmmmm.
