Super Billiard Expo 2013

Super billiards Expo 2013

I see many agree with me. Just to set the record straight, I spent a lot of money year after year at this event. I would like to see this Expo become great once again. So I feel if many of us get the truth out there, this might eventually get into the ears of the right people so they realize what they have to do to make this event great again. And what is this I here from others AZer's-- The same cue dealers year after year with the same overpriced cues. You think they would have different cues from year to year. Maybe the price has something to do with this. You Think? "Don't blow smoke" you know where. Lets be frank with each other. Make this Expo great again, instead of pretending. BANKS

Thanks Joe, don't worry, your words are heard. So are the words of all the countless people who had a really great time, enjoyed the show, and can't wait to come back again.

Of course we can't make everyone happy, so we'll just continue doing our best and improving upon things that need improving to make the scores of people that do enjoy the show happy.

Is everything perfect and ideal? No, nothing in life is. We could have the show in a place paved in gold and give out money at the door, and I'm pretty sure someone would still be upset that the place is too shiny and that the cash is too heavy to lug around.

Thanks to all of you that do enjoy the show - and even those of you that did not. We will always listen to what people think of the show and strive to make each year better than the last. We learn each year, and moving to a new venue brings unforeseen problems. We don't get a dress rehearsal or a practice run. We get lots of time to plan and wonder if our plan will work, but only 3 days to set up 200 pool tables, vendor booths, pro arenas, and more. And then we wait a year to do it again.

Aside from slightly smaller fields in the amateur divisions, everything else showed an increase: a monster field in the pro event, more vendors, more food options on the show floor, several hotels less than 2 miles down the road (not even an interstate - just one turn out of convention center road), and more people though the door. And yes, Mueller was there - with 10 booths immediately inside the main entrance. In fact, they gave away a $15,000 home gameroom set-up to one lucky winner. Not too shabby. Sadly, Predator was not there - there was a conflict in dates and they chose to attend the show in China and allow their dealers to represent their product at the show.

Sure, it sucks that we lost Valley Forge, as it was quite an ideal home. However, we feel that Edison offers lots of promise for a bright future for the show. Even without floors paved in gold. :)

There was a constant din in the pro arena from the booth's area BUT it seemed to bother no one-kinda like a fan in a room.

The problem comes in when there is dead silence and then a sudden noise like a cell phone. No chance of that this year-JMHO

This is why it's okay to get on here and give your opinions good or bad about the show. Allen and allen jr put in a ton of work to put on this show and I believe they love doing it. You can bet they are looking at every aspect of the show to see if things worked out the way they expected them to and what they can do to make it better. The info all of us give on what worked and didn't work is valuable!

Thanks allen. Was the show perfect ...no..nothing is. But the new site was better then the last and it's still 4 days of pool utopia and I love every minute of it!! You can bet I'll be back!

I liked having the sounds of the expo coming through in the pro arena, it was like the loud fan I use at night for "white noise". The dark quiet room of years past in VF was nice but there was always someone who didn't turn their phone off and even those that proceeded to answer and commence talking. The set up this year took the audience sharking factor out of the equation (for the most part).

I saw a few people mention keeping one side free and charging for seating on the other side and I applaud that idea. It was extremely frustrating trying to get a seat over the weekend and I longed for the old VIP section.

Concrete floors?
Never walked into an expo expecting a foot massage with every step...

What were people expecting? A Sandals resort in Edison?
It's POOL.

As much as people complain, myself included, would anyone really want to go back to the days BEFORE the expo?

So people got a little spoiled with Valley Forge.
Oh well.
Times change.
People adapt.

Way i look at it, as long as you don't leave the expo smelling like a plate of rotten funnel cake/french fries with stale beer poured on top, it's all good.

Allen and Allen jr do a great job. I always enjoy going to this event. This was the first year at a new location. Some kinks need to be addressed. I am sure the promoters will deal with them.
I was surprised and disappointed to see some of vendors did not show up. This is not the promoters fault. I heard Phillipi sold all of their cues last month so they had nothing to bring to the show. The Predator booth was missed. They usually have a nice display. Muellers not bringing anything to sell was a shock. Robin Dodson was missed also.
Hopefully they will all show up next year.
Many of the money players went to the Sandcastle Saturday night. This is why there was little action. Mostly $5 and $10 tables. If I would have known this in advance I would have gone over to the Sandcastle.

I was thinking the same thing. lol Your not aloud to say anything on this forum unless it's full of butterfly's and rainbows. Don't knock a guy for having an opinion..give your own on why you liked the location.

lol!

i had a great time

I had a great time atending the expo despite some minor shortcomings.
I think those who set it up did a great job with what they had to work with we all know you can't please all. I look at going to a pool event like going out with the boys for a night of pool enjoying the company of like minded folks. Joe banks sounds like one of my girlfriends oops I mean one of my ex girlfriends My advice is don't like the rodeo stay home and watch the action via live streaming just think you'll also save your money.
To the Hopkins family thank you very much for putting together the funfilled weekend for me and so many others. Like was said earlier in this thread you don't get a practice run before opening the doors.....just my 2 worthless cents again................see you all again next year

Anyone know who the guy from Boston was? Inquiring minds from Boston want to know LOL

I believe it was Ryan and the guy who went off was the (in)famous Russian Kenny. I have never seen someone go off so badly like that. The man has gamble. He stuck me for $100 that he borrowed from me after losing his a$$ and is now ducking me. He didnt win a bet that involved a pool table, unless a quarter was flipped on it!

The BBQ was after hours and it was off the chain, especially after days of bland food.

I think they need a holding cell there for the scumbags that go there to rob people and piss on the floor. Bunch of animals...give this game a terrible and deserved reputation. I like to bet, but dealing with the trash gets old after a few days. Most guys never bet a dime and still acted like nits.

There is a difference between gambling, and nose-wide-open-stupidity.

Yeah ,I was trying to be nice.

Truth be told the guy is an a$$hole and looks to be stiffing me for the $100 I let him borrow. No worries if he doesnt pay, Im up 600 on his carnival game...and he's just a clown.

Next year we start off him down -100 bucks. Funny how one of the 2 biggest self-proclaimed pool gamblers is such bad action. What a joke. Drive the guy to his hotel one night, have breakfast on the way, talk about our families....and he just puts me on ignore. He has no idea...I never let an insult like this go unanswered.12 months is a lot of time to figure it out, be best if he paid.

Kenny is a piece of shit and has no gamble just stealing he only went off cause he thought he was stealing.
He flew to tennessee and road with me to Louisiana I got in some action and he went half I beat the kid and then adjusted the next set. I was stealing the first time he pulled up cause I adjusted and when I won on my own money he told me he needed a jelly for me winning. I told him to f... off and he started going off like I owed him something needless to say I dropped him off at the airport 12 hours early and drove off.

Yeah, I feel you.

Sorta a little too self centered?

Like he puts on an act, but only when he figures it will pay off . I have been around him gambling over a 1/2 dozen times, just never figured he would duck a $100 debt. He really threw himself on his sword that night, people were lining up to take his money and watch him impale himself.Definately the highlight of the event.

I Enjoyed It!

I for one had a good time. I'm one of the 25 million plus people who lives in the area and probably would not have gone if it weren't 30 minutes from my home. So the location has to be a plus to the promoter just because of the potential audience. First time I've gone so I have nothing to compare it to but it was about what I expected.

I didn't even know of the event until I read about it on here. So maybe marketing in the immediate area, local TV, etc... could have been a little better to draw in more folks but that's their issue I guess. I went on Friday and the place was fairly crowded. Parking was rough but could be found if you walked a little.

The main reason I went was to see JB Cases product. I had ordered a case online based on reputation alone two days before. I was not disappointed. It was good to meet JB but I never did find the Celtic case he told me about.

Overall a positive experience and now that I know about it I'll be there next year too.

Allen,

This was my first time at the SBX, so I can't compare to past events. However, I think you did a fine job especially for the first time at a new venue. I'll be back next year.

I don't know the reason for the change, but I agree with the posters who would rather pay to watch the pro event. It was pretty disheartening seeing people answering their phones and carrying on conversations while the top players in the world were competing. I'm inclined to think much of that would be eliminated by charging an entry fee since people willing to pay to watch would be far more familiar with the etiquette involved in doing so.

Lastly, check your 10.5 straight rotation Facebook page! I'm also going to PM you a link to a tread I started here with some ideas. Let me know what you think.

Super billiards Expo 2013

Golden floors and giving money away at the door? Most liked Valley Forge Expo, but is was far from being spit shined. I thought you were there to make money. Me and everyone else must be mistaken. Anyway, I supported this super billiard Expo just about from the beginning. I spent a lot of money year after year at this event. I must say I give you guys credit for having this event. However, it has to be obvious by now that everyone keeps talking about the Valley Forge Expo's. As a suggestion, with out going tit for tat with you and your production, Why cant you find a place similar to the Radisson Valley Forge? Their are many miles between the last two Expo's that you tried. Their has to be a large Hotel with plenty of rooms, parking, restaurants, etc, which would love to have this event. Yes a Hotel . Not a convention center. Or a Hotel that has a convention center in it. This event may put a Hotel on the Map that is not so well known. BANKS

Hey anybody know why Shane Winters wasn't at the Expo this year?

No idea, also no Clatterbuck or Kirkwood.

I call Kenny and he makes me feel like it's my fault that I let him borrow money! This guy is good, " $100!?? I sh#t $100!". Okay then just sh%t $100 into an envelope and pay me. This should take awhile. Will delete posts if I am ever repaid .
