Any input on this? I thought the open pro event was $20k the past few years, I see they're paying pretty deep but a $10k drop?

Last year, the Players Championship paid a total of $59,000 to 24 places. It was quite top heavy with $20,000 for first, dropping to $7,000 for second.

It looks like this year's event for men will pay 32 places, but the total payout is down to $40,000, a $19,000 drop. First and second places are $10,000 and $5,000. The women's event will pay another $15,000 (16 places). Those payouts depend on having full fields of 64 men and 32 women.

SBE pro events

The men's event is an ABP sanctioned event.
The added money is now $8,000.

It does not get any BCA points. (min for BCA points is $25,000 added).

Last year it was $25,000 added.

Sounds like the ABP s going in the wrong direction!

I don't know if the women are sanctioned or acknowledged but the add is a little 0ver $5,000.

It looks like he's fitting in two tournaments. The men's tournament at double elimination took all weekend. Now he's having a men's and womens event in the same amount of time.
 
Also the entry fee is back to $500...Was it last year or the year before that it was $1000
 
Like the idea of the single elimination format. Every pro will be playing at the top of their game immediately or they go home. Quickly.

Don't think it will speed up the event. This is essentially a race to 16 ten ball. Perhaps 23 if three sets are necessary.

Only downside to me is, half the players will see only one opponent. The spectators may not get to see their favorite player if they arrive on the second day of play.

With the recent change in the Mosconi Cup selection process, Allen no longer has to meet the criteria for a points paying event. Other than the reduced added money, this is an excellent revision! JMHO.

So are you saying that the ABP negotiated for less money (which is in the best interest of the players, HOW) ?!?!?!?
 
BTW - the purpose of the BCA points is not just for the Mosconi Cup.

The BCA is the North American representative for the WPA - which is the world body for pool and billiards etc.

Most countries (but not the US) sends their top players to the World events - based upon their rankings and how many spots that country has at the World events.

The US has been losing out on their spots the last few years because they could not fill them. Very few players from North America seem to want to go the the World events.

It is just important to know that the Mosconi Cup was an added 'benefit' of the BCA points - when MatchRoom elected to also use the BCA points.

But to think that was the only reason for tracking BCA points is not accurate.

I'll be there for the TAP league event and I may play the warm up. I'll be there Wednesday to Sunday for sure and I may head to Atlantic City Sunday.
