I’ve pondered doing something with the Fatboy brand/ I did the 10’ tourneys at Derby with Greg and they were fantastic.

I only ask this question because everyone is so hyper sensitive to words these days I don’t want to use a word that will be counterproductive in any marketing campaigns.

So because I’m out of touch with the current parlance of our times. I’m asking everyone here to please answer this. Even if you hate me, that’s ok. Your voice matters more. If you love me, you matter too.

I’m in a spot in my life where I have the time, connections, and other biz related things to turn Fatboy into a brand. A brand which can manufacture, resell, invent new products related to pool for residential and commercial types of applications. Tables, cues, cases, etc etc etc.

I’ve never been on FB in my life or any social media but here. And I’ve been successful on AZB, I feel as though I could be successful on larger platforms. Sure there’s more competition to get clicks, but Fatboy creates good content & id be competitive there. (I just don’t want the personal attention).

However if I were to launch a brand Fatboy or Fatboy’s (something ) is that name cool these days

I’m biased as it’s my nickname and I like it when people call me Fatboy.

Thanks for the feed back

Fatboy<———while not PC , ok possibly the lease PC person, I wouldn’t market a name brand out side the lines. I’m smart enough to play fair and by the rules & norms of society

thought about starting a podcast? you seem to have some player access and be up to date with the pool scene. i would listen. sitting with cad/fusion everyday and i'm getting tired of these true crime podcasts..

I have lots of player access to anyone 40 and over. I’ve been lucky that way. I’d be down to do a pod. Center it around pool and see where it goes from there.

CJ does great ones with his interviews on his YouTube channel.

I’d do my own sort of pod, look at the analytics and adjust my content from there. If I have guests who pull better numbers, then that’s a plan. If I get bad numbers I’d break down the show and see why or where I lost the audience.

Thinking about it a bit here. I’d build it around pool. That’s a lot to chat about. But if I get scott frost or SVB fishing has to become a topic for that show. Same for sigel. I’d keep it limited to what pool players like. Gambling, fishing, war stories and how we all are going to fix pool. And equipment reviews.

I’d never mention politics. Religion or any hot potato type events or the economy or cypto. All that’s off limits. And climate change. It’s the damn weather it changes!

We’ll see mite be fun/ I can get players for days. I have good friendships with most all of them and I’d let them plug their sponsors much as they want. Even if that sponsor is competition to me-I’m not a knocker. If anyone is kind enough to do my show, they are entitled to rep their products on my platform. I’m not a nit or greedy like that.

Everything is offensive to someone these days. Don't sweat 'em. You just be you and stay true to the brand you've already built up and let the chips fall where they may. In general, cancel culture is getting more and more 'anti-woke' push back against it so that stuff should all pretty much even out, leaving your success hinging on the quality of your product. If the product is good, the name won't hurt you imo.

What ever I do, will be good stuff. Market is expanding and there room for more. No junk from me

pool is having a small boom right now, i would say. as for the really old players, i don't think that's where the interest lies. davenport, sigel and reed pierce tried to do a youtube thing some year ago and it wasn't a great success. interviewing current or recent pros would probably get higher numbers

I'm Slightly on the burning dennis searing to the ground right now, I'd probably be accepting/backing anything you do, youve always had pool in your best thoughts along with a few other $$$$$guys. Shit, I'll take a look tomorrow, tonight, my thoughts cannot be compromised

Oh for sure. I’d start with what I have and that’s most of the Americans 40 and under. I’d get the younger guys for sure for the pod. I’m certain that would be easy for me. Get the girls on as well.

I’d go wide and see what gets the best numbers. This is a show along side a product line and it’s for fun and listener engagement. Not for me to sit with 80 year old guys and argue about the past-I do that now all the time lolol. It’s about what the audience is interested in.

Poker is another idea, guys like JBR or Corn flakes who are in both worlds. They kinda cross over.

Also new ideas as the organically pop up over the course of time. It has to be fun and something for everyone.

If you were trying to market to everyone like, say, Toyota or Coca Cola, Fatboy probably wouldn't be the best name. But, considering the demographic you'd be going after, I'd say Fatboy has the potential to be great.

It’s got to the point that I go out of my way to be politically incorrect. Stupid a$$ woke people never look in the mirror and see that they are the problem.

I can only speak for myself but it's not offensive to me. Here on AZB it's a very recognizable brand. If someone told me that Eric has his own line of cues, Id say Eric who, I know a bunch of Eric's. BUT if the same was said with Fatboy I'd know exactly who that is.
If the general public recognized you as Fatboy like here, you would be the richest man on the planet. I also don't do any of the social media things but I do believe that in this day if you try and build a brand without the other social media platforms it would be an uphill battle.

I think it would work in the "pool world", because a lot of people know you. Branching out into the general population might be more difficult.

wasn't it fat man? either way it's not a very anglophone market, they do their own stuff
All the front page search returns confirm that. I remember, Long boy, Tall boy (could be inventing this) for the other one. Fatboyis what stuck in my head. Oh well...

The fervent demand considerations of others that they refuse to return.

Self important hypocrisy.

This 68 year old has no problem with the name lol.
:D
If it were me I’d be more concerned with someone else having already trade marked/registered the name & owned the domain than I would about the SJWs.
Rules vs opinions :D
