You can go watch Shane play this weekend. I have thought real seriously about closing up the shop and going.

I have talked to two very good sources today. Shane is going to be playing in Bozeman, Montana this weekend. btw, it was negative 7 this morning but its not stopping the guys from MT, Washington state, the Canadians and Shane. Pool is POOL:D

You know? Ever since I gave up the collector car scene, sold my old Porsche, I've been thinking of buying one of those 4 door jeep wranglers...so I could drive to any match/tournament I cared to watch...just buy 2 sets of tires and wheels...one set of studded snow tires. Still, Montana is one effing long drive from here...

Hey Mr. Madden how far is it from Sioux Falls to Bozeman, I was curious and the only map I found showing both states makes it look like about six hundred miles. A long ride in cold weather for sure so I hope SVB can win the tournament and or some side action, I think the odds are on his side. Hope you can make the trip to watch.--Leonard

Don't know but 500-600 miles sounds right. Most of the players around this state who go to the bigger tournaments have some long drives - if you live in western MT or Idaho you need to go to Washington state or go east across the Rockies --- several hundred miles one way. Have a break cue I just completed for Jeff Boucher - sort of thought I would take a drive and delivery it to him since he is playing in Bozeman too.

IMO it's worth the drive. I drove both ways in one day to watch him play Jesse in DesMoines and I was NOT sorry :D Poetry in motion.

I'm in Billings, it'd have been nice to go watch him play. Too cold to travel anywhere for me.

I did get to watch Jeff Boucher play a little at a tournament here last year. This guy is pretty damn good, wins alot of tourneys here in the state.

It saddens me that my mother tongue has to absorb a constant stream of American intrusion such as "sidewalk" for pavement, "gas" for petrol, and "collateral damage" for oops. Yet all we've ever managed to sneak in in return are 'effing' 'wanker' and 'bollocks'.

Result!!

Too bad ! Americans are just like a beautiful woman. The girls want to be like her and the guys want to be with her. We've been the subject of a lot of criticism lately, but strangely enough, it seems that people from all over the globe still will do anything to get here. Even our internet forums are the best! Wonder why that is ?

Our innovative expanse of the English language includes the whimsical and the practical. ie: "gas" from gasoline (easier to say than petrol). We refined the meaning of pavement to mean the street or highway, and "sidewalk" is where you walk on the side of the road (seems plain enough to me) . Now a "wanker"....what is that:rolleyes: ? Is that something that you have a lot of in the UK ? I worked and travelled in the UK and I didn't see anything that eclipsed us. I mainly noticed a declining infrastucture.

This is a forum for pool enthusiasts. Would your hero/World Champion (Peach) like to play our best player/South Dakota Kid (Shane Van Boening) for some serious money? That's why we're here, not to claim some subjective language usage superiority. By the way, I'll put up $1000 in the match against yours if it happens, but that probably would be too much collateral damage for you...Tom

This was all in jest, right? Please don't tell me you meant every word of this.............

tpdtom,

We have better looking white women in the US too... My favorites are still Senoritas and Asian women but when it comes to white women, the UK just does not have what we have over here???? Of course, there is exceptions to every rule but, overall, we win that contest hands down...

Better pool players and women... No wonder the US is the place to live :)

You might have been able to convince my parent's generation when they only saw Hollywood movie stars. But Jerry Springer is syndicated here too you know. The secret's out. Never mind the guests, we've all seen the audiance!

Erm, I think all the statistics show we're having an awful lot more than you. Half the twelve year-olds round here have seen more sex than a copper's torch. And as for ugly, well, the nights are dark, and according to you all the street lights are broken remember.

Of course, there is exceptions to every rule but, overall, we win that contest hands down...
Only if you measure by the ton. I've only seen two American tourists on holiday around the Med, and in both cases Greenpeace were desperately trying to drag them back into the water.

Better pool players and women...
But not better women pool players. Strange.

No wonder the US is the place to live :)
Don't worry. We're all relieved you live way over there too.

Oh don't worry on my account Shawn. This is just a rather gentle introduction to the ancient British art of taking the piss. We have no equal at it, although the Aussies try, bless em. It's in the genes.

Now there's some truth!:D I keep having to remember to keep that under control sometimes, although most people who know me here get it.
