I also was kind of hoping for more specifics. Stuff like what's the bridge hand doing, what's the back hand doing, are there any tricks to timing it when he stands up and swings his arm... I don't think he even really answered where he aims on the cue ball.
I'm very glad for the slow mo, both the side view shot of his motion and the cool 3d view of the cue ball
skipping across the table, then bouncing off the face of the 1 ball.
That does give me something to imitate even if shane didn't explain it verbally.
I think that's the secret to the popping cue ball... getting the cue ball in a low, flat jump so that it lands
right in front of the 1. Then it bounces off the face of the 1 and goes airborne.
So your back hand and your speed determine that arc... the more speed you have,
the less you need to jack up that back hand.
I wonder if it also helps control the cue ball in some weird way, like it kills any accidental backspin rubbing against
the one ball, and accidental topspin doesn't matter because the ball bounces backwards and then topspin makes it
dive forward a little and then die.
