SVB shouldn’t be allowed to turn hearing aids off?

Just listened to the Fedor -Rogan podcast.
Fedor said SVB shouldn’t be allowed to turn his hearing aids off. What do you all think?
I completely disagree, SVB should be allowed to play in his natural physical state. I found that statement rather insulting to SVB Niel’s is blind in one eye, maybe he should be forced to have a mechanical device that makes his other eye work, or someone who is missing a finger should be forced to have a prosthetic on whilst playing.

I think the statement was rude and I’m also not convinced « normal hearing players « would play better in complete silence, If I play with complete noise cancelling earbuds, I hate not being able to hear the noise feedback from the balls. Either way I think his statement was wrong, going to an even more extreme example, if a guy had a back deformity that keeps him in the perfect pool position would we force him to do something about it?

I like Fedor but can’t agree with his statement

I certainly agree with you Fedor is totally out of line.

i can understand fedor's point
shane does not have to use any brain power to block out extraneous noises
so he can devote 100% to playing pool
if a waitress dropped a tray of drinks just as shane was delivering his stroke on his match winning ball it would not disturb him
it might distract his normal hearing opponent
just sayin

in a magor event He should be able to hear the referee call or the clock bips
if he does with the aid off than it's OK

I've seen players with ear buds while playing. this should be forbidden, it might be just music or noise cancelation, but it could also be instruction by phone.

It wasn't said disparagingly, and in no way was it disrespectful to Shane. It was more of just a conversation, how it's almost like a super power. If you get a chance listen to/watch the podcast. It's pretty good if you're into pool. Again, it wasn't said serious or anything.

I know my friends and I have talked about it before. Imagine being able to flip a switch and the noise of the pool hall shenanigans is muted.

If you've not listened to/watched the podcast I can almost guarantee you're taking it out of context.

I'm sure there were great players in the past, before the hearing aides came along.
Maybe we can have the government make a law on how many decibels on your ear setting ''make you conform''.
:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
What happens if the batteries go dead/Manwon? LOL

I listened to it all. Maybe I am wrong and it was tongue in cheek but he seemed very serious about it to me

Sorry I don’t understand what sjw stands for
Ok. I googled it! That wasn’t my intention of the post , he certainly doesn’t need people standing up for him I’m sure when people start badmouthing Shane he just turns his hearing aids down 😉

I haven't listened to the podcast yet but I would bet money this is being taken out of context. Fake news so to speak.
I probably wrote too much about the Fedor side of it

I was more interested if people think complete silence would be better? Maybe if born that way , yes , but when I tried I hated not hearing the contact of cue to ball and to an extent ball to ball

Hopefully this doesn't sound like I'm trying to gaslight you, it's not my intention, but I think you read the situation wrong. There were smiles and banter going on, it wasn't serious. I can see it being a touchy subject but as far as I can tell it didn't seem to be disparaging. It may seem a bit lacking taste wise, but it's nothing beyond the pale, especially among pool players. Most of these guys know each other pretty well and joke around a bit with each other.

Shane's talked about it on 60 minutes, and how it's an advantage, it's not something he shies away from:
