SVB shouldn’t be allowed to turn hearing aids off?

Shane could just take his hearing aids out. Is Fedor or anyone else going to refuse letting him play because of his natural deafness?

If people don't like the rules then even it out: let anyone play with an apparatus that makes your hearing 10X (or whatever it actually is) more acute and you can turn it as high or low as you like.

First mistake is listening/watching Rogan who is the consummate assclown.
Not to hijack the thread but if you think he’s an assclown, and you cared enough to say it, I’d dig hearing why that’s your opinion on the non billiard section… if you’d like to take it there.

Rogan, Tyson, and Peterson get a lot of attention from me….they don’t get 100% approval, but more than most.
…and deafness is definitely a handicap….hearing gives you a lot of info…..hats off to the South Dakota Kid for overcoming it…it’s beautiful how a brain can re-wire itself to give you the info you need to play great.

I once had a cry baby run for the rules after I made a jump shot off of this bridge.

I happened to encounter a woman in a pharmacy. She had a seeing eye dog and a tag on her blouse that said “I’m blind and deaf”. She was shopping in the pharmacy. I will never forget her and her tenacity with those two strikes against her. It’s only now that I even admire her most since she won’t have to endure the next four years.
What's the next 4 years?

Likewise… hell, there are plenty of other comedians I’d rather listen to than some of the assclowns (to borrow a word) on mainstream news. Pretty sad when you can find more truth in some comedy than in what the mainstream news agencies are supposed to deliver.

I’d hate to listen to some of the 5hit that came out of my mouth when I was 25 years old. I’m glad it wasn’t recorded for the world to hear forever in the interweb - I’ll give Fedor a pass.

Can it be argued that being able to hear can make one perform better?
I actually think hearing my tip hit the cue ball and hearing the cue ball hit the object balls give me a better sense of how much speed I am using.

When I am wearing ear buds while playing I never have the music so loud that I can't hear the table sounds.

On a slightly different tangent, remember when there was that time foul controversy with Shane and Yapp? I'm wondering what would have happened had Shane shot anyway during the few seconds it took for John to get his attention. Would that be escalated to some sort of "sportsmanship" type foul for continuing to shoot after a foul was called?
Forget it was Shane, who obviously couldn't hear John. If a player chose to ignore the ref and shot the ball anyway one or two seconds after he called "Foul", does that go beyond a standard BIH foul?

Auditory shark moves were often employed back in the day. Lake City Red was the master of shark moves. A favorite move of his was jingling the quarters in his pocket when I was down on the game ball. He had denial as it was a coin op table. He also timed his remarks to a bystander for effect.
My way of dealing with it was to confront him and raise my adrenalin to Fight. He used the key word CHEATER when I was down on the shot. I rose up and dressed him down verbally..... Addressing him as, "Whining Crying Shark Move M F'er". I ended with, "When it's your turn you cry all you want. When it's my turn you be quiet and Act like a man." Raising my adrenaline worked so well that I not only won that match but the whole damn tournament. My first victory in a 2 day event with the big boys. 🤷‍♂️
I could have turned off my hearing aids but prefer an aggressive solution over the passive answer. The raised adrenaline is a powerful tool. Let me feel self rightchous and angry and see my very best. 😉

Auditory shark moves
The room owner on The Hill in Tacoma used his antique cash register as a move. It rang a bell every time the drawer opened so that's where he kept the quarter for the next rack. His timing was good. His money was good too though, so a confrontation wouldn't help. I just learned to make the Ding part of my pre shot routine. Never could get him up off of 10 a game. 🤷‍♂️ He gave up just over a C note. 🤷‍♂️

Just wondering... how would it be enforced? How you anyone know if his hearing aids were actually turned on or off?
Well I found a way a long time ago. I was approximately 8 years old(1959). My mother only heard with a hearing aid in her one good ear. It was in the frame of her glasse and turned off with a flip of the switch on the glasses. When she didn't want to listen to my whine she just shut it off.
On one occasion she had her back to me and ended my appeal by reaching up to the switch. I instantly uttered a Big Boy word. Bitch! She had only mimed the move and I got the Switch. A willow switch if I remember right. 🤷‍♂️ Life's lessons.

in a magor event He should be able to hear the referee call or the clock bips
if he does with the aid off than it's OK

I've seen players with ear buds while playing. this should be forbidden, it might be just music or noise cancelation, but it could also be instruction by phone.
I have hearing aids. Modern hearing aids let you connect with your phone. You are suggesting hearing aids not be used, but they must be able to hear the referee. Can't have it both ways. If you've ever played anywhere the peanut gallery likes to blurt out tips you know it is more an irritant than anything. I think having someone connected would be the same.
