SVB to Kick Off High Run Attempts

I don't like the way he breaks the rack with cueball going wild to end of table and back down...he had a few runs end because of it.
I think that it's definitely debatable. I tried it last night and I have to say that it works better for getting the balls to spread. I guess it's a risk/reward trade-off for sure.

I was interested in those total viewer numbers as well. When I checked into the live stream there were generally 100-200 viewers. Sometimes it would dip down to 75, and sometimes it would peak around 500 viewers, and i think i saw 700 once.

I looked it up and found that Facebook counts a view if someone watches the video for 3 seconds.

So if you look at the Facebook page and see the live stream moving, it will count as a view after 3 seconds. According to the analytics guys, if you go back in 5 minutes and see how SVB is doing now, it will add another view. Every 'start video playing' whether it's autostart or not, will trigger a view increment in 3 seconds.

An example they gave is of a video that 'reached' 4000 people, had 1300 'non-unique people' view it for 3 seconds, and 560 non-unique people view it for more than 10 seconds. The average view time was only 26 seconds.

So one person who checked in periodically over the course of the day could have been responsible for 500 of those views.

Facebook doesn't 'freely' provide engagement data, like how many different people viewed this video, or the median and average viewing times.

I don't know if 'likes' are more meaningful. They do actually require that you click something so maybe they do mean something. Of the three SVB videos from yesterday, there were 43 likes, 65 likes, and SVB's 308 had 101 likes.

Among that audience were some VERY big name people in our pool world.

It has the attention of some very accomplished players and important people in pool. Very impressive stuff.

Can’t say more as I respect their privacy.

All good stuff so far and I see nothing but good things happening. Would be nice for a change for a happier ending to anything in pool.

Yes, legendary in fact.

Really, I can count several threads in the past few days that I am involved in that contain no insults or arguing.

I think you need to be fair and understand that when I argue I have reasons and I lay them out.

I also have refrained from insults and I think that the only time in this thread that I have directly insulted anyone was in response to Bobby calling John Schmidt a chickenshit.

They are free to start a new thread and apologize to John Schmidt, recognize his record as both verified and official and then we can all move on.

They will have to fade some commentary by Harriman knocking then for accepting John's run but no one cares about what Danny thinks at this point imo.

You always find a way to rationalize your nuttiness, lol.

Where are the other sites? For such an important project you all are not real good at providing good information.

The only two I have seen are Roy's basement and your page. Both on Facebook.

And by doing it it only on Facebook you are limiting the audience. There are several streaming applications that allow for streaming to multiple platforms at once.

Seems like you would want to provide accurate information so that viewers could view it on the platform that works best for them.

But you told a member here that you were not allowed to post a link to the Facebook stream and that itself is a lie as you have to have seen hundreds of links to Facebook live streams over the past several years. Of course you will deny this being the public relations pro that you are

Well I don't think so but if I am rationalizing the irrational then I can say that I have learned all that I know in that area from your examples here.

Behold, the master at work.

I had about ½ the money in my pocket bet on a guy one night (I was just a rail bird that night), they played a long race of 9B for $500 to $700 a side in the late 80’s was probably 10-12 guys betting on each side in Stockton Ca. When pool was a “pool” of money bet on each side plus what ever the 2 players were betting. There was no dump.

Anyways the guy I bet on Purse Snatcher his real name was Al, can’t recall his last name was way behind. I was sure I lost my money, somehow Snatch made a come back to hill/hill. He said “hill/hill my speciality”. I remember this like it was last week. He breaks and is running out from nowhere. This is B+ player pool, in action every night, but far from shortstops or pro’s.

Snatch gets perfect on the 9 after a brutal break and run, I can’t remember who he was playing but to everyone’s surprise he didn’t conceded the 9B which was 2” off the short rail 8” from the CB and 8” from the pocket. Impossible to miss. Snatch looked at him, he said “shoot”, it was a tap in.

“Ok I see, I get it” Snatch said as he was pissed off and he walked to the bathroom for 5 minutes or longer. He walked away to stall the guy, anyways I’m certain everyone who has read this has figured it out. Snatch gets back from the bathroom shoots the 9B and hangs it in a 4.75” shallow shelf Rebco table. It’s almost impossible to hang a ball like that.

Fatboy lost ½ his bankroll

Was 1-130 am so no more action there that night.

Moral of the story, shoot the important shot THEN go take a break. At least that night maybe in 14.1 it’s different. “Case game my specialty” my ass…..

The chronicles will continue

Had a guy I know from a couple hours away do a similar thing. In a short race tournament to 3 in 8 ball on Valley tables for good money. He was on the hill and I had no games. He had 2 balls on the table and the 8. Takes his bathroom break and iced himself. He came back and drove the object ball straight into the rail. I got out, broke and ran on my break. Then he broke dry on his (alternating break) and I ran out. I didn't even know what to say other than " you had me".

Yeah, i checked out some other sites as well. Pool sites like Roy's Basement actually had "likes" around 250. But it's not being streamed on Youtube, and with their '30 second' window for counting views, that would have given a different picture. And the Legends group is solely based on Facebook, so i'm thinking it's probably the best basis.

There doesn't seem to be an easily available metric to find out how many people are actually engaged, so you could tell if there's more engagement next week or the week after, and maybe it's worth running a 14.1 tournament.

What I've been doing is checking in periodically and logging the number of 'live' viewers during the afternoon, evening, and late evening live stream. For the 'archived' videos from earlier in the day, the views don't seem to mean as much.. You can see that the number of views of the Day1 videos pretty much stopped increasing during Day 2..

Next week, I'll check in on Chinakhov and others and see if there's a growing livestream audience or if it's the same hard-core 14.1 community that just checks in multiple times during the live stream.

Imo they are dropping the ball by not concurrently streaming on YouTube. If I were a sponsor I would definitely want my logo on YouTube streams and videos.

At the very least they should ask one of the re-streamers to do it but I would think that they would want it to be on their own YouTube account for control purposes.

Jesus ... It is

I seen one it hit the top rail and went all the way back....hard to control a cueball going over 15 feet
I agree, a lot can happen. But I also have to say that watching Shane do it consistently means that he is pretty good at controlling the exact hit on the rack that he wants to.

I would expect myself to fail at that break with negative outcomes far more than an elite level player.

I think Shane has figured out the best approach for his style and with some luck he could certainly have a legit chance to get into the 600s.

I say that because to me each break shot is like starting a new run in a way and the balls don't know how many were ran before.

Thanks for explaining that. I tuned in for about 10 min 3 different days and only saw about 75 viewers on the count. How that got to 18,000 is confusing.

18,000, that’s amazing. Is that cumulative? Or concurrent? Either way is great. I’m sure many people are like me and are checking in regularly.

Maybe there is an opportunity for extension event in the future. High run contest per Fargo category. High run under 750, 700, 650 and so on.
It's just a number without much meaning. People check in watch for a bit and leave, some see it pop up in the "live" section of fb and might click and leave pretty quickly. Without knowing the actual engagement metrics the number is essentially meaningless. Saying it is just a way to say a large number in an attempt to establish some kind of credibility.

Put it up as ppv for $5 a day and then show us the numbers. People value things they pay for much more than they value what's given for free.

I have to stop. This is like shooting fish in a barrel. I need to just let Lou do what he is truly best at and continue to hype this thing. Regardless of how I feel the actual content of elite players running hundreds is a worthwhile endeavor and good for pool on some level.

I promise to try. I thought I had it this morning and shouldn't have scrolled up and seen Bobby's nastiness. Don't reply Cameron, I get it.

Where else is it being streamed? On previous days I could access the FB stream without a login. Today it won't let me past the login screen.

Thanks to all involved with this 14.1 event!

Were you bad, lol?

I believe it is also being streamed on Roy's Basement, AZBtv, and TVmike.tv.
