SVB vs Earl from DCC one pocket just went up

I think it sucks that Pat puts his time and effort into making DVD's and they end up on YouTube.

I was just going to say the same thing. What's wrong with these people? Don't they have any class at all? Haven't they heard of copyright infringements?

Sorry I don't want to sound like an asshole but maybe the guy is really passionate of pool and the he wants make it more popular? He doesn't earn anything from those videos. Also the matches are televised on the chinese tv, he records them and then he uploads them on YouTube.

The NFL is on my television all fall. That doesn't mean I can record it and upload the entire game to YouTube. I would be sued in a second. People can do it with pool because there isn't a big legal team waiting to pounce.

I am really passionate about pool as well. However, I didn't pack a bunch of gear in a van, drive 1000 miles, spend a week setting it up, purchase rights to record it, pay a crew to film it, all in the hopes of making some DVD's and hopefully make a little money off it (taking a loss up front with the hopes to get it on the back end).

He doesn't earn anything from those videos, but unfortunately the guy who invested the chunk of cash to make the video doesn't get to earn anything either. THAT is the point I was making.

I guess I am confused.....

The video posted has the Star Sports logo in the upper right corner. There is Asian commentary.

The Accustats tape has English commentary with no Star Sports logo (right?).

Did Accustats sell the rights to the video to Star Sports, which then did their own commentary, which was then viewed on TV, and then posted to youtube by this guy?

If they straight up stole the Accustats version, how did they remove the English commentary but keep the sounds of the match?

I believe your theory is probably what happened. Just like Barry worked a deal for rights to Asian markets for this years US Open, Pat probably did the same for these. That gives them the right to televise in Asia, not to record that and post it to YouTube. Everyone does it, but it still doesn't make it kosher.
