Efren and his play last night continues to amaze me. The break stats don't lie. If he played with Shane's break I think he wins. How is that for a 53 year old man that plays part time.

Forget the score. Efren today is not at his best. Go look at the color of money stuff on youtube and you tell me if the current Efren could hang with that guy. Did Shane out break him. Yah so....big surprise. Did SVB play his best? Not by a long shot.

Look I have a huge man-crush on Efren. Believing he's as good as he was is a lie. Tonight might just illustrate this. His best game. No big break to carry SVB if he's not in best form. Let's see if the Magician can still bring the heat.

I think Efren himself agreed with this assessment during the pre-match podcast. He seemed emphatic that he no longer can play close to his old speed. Asked how much weight the Efren of old would have to give to the Efren of today, he replied simply, "A lot!".

Maybe he knows more about his game than we do.

Every time shane wins a tournament or wins gambling someone has to say " if it wasn't for his break" or " he was out played and only reason he won was his break" isn't the break part of the game? As is banking , safty play, position, and making shots, !! Maybe if some of the players need to re invent there game so they can match up, just like in golf when tiger woods came on the tour everyone had to go back to the drawing board and adjust to the new way the game is played, but to criticize a player or take any thing away from a player after they worked hundred of hours to master that part of the game isn't right. Plain and simple until someone can match his break its gonna tough for anyone playing him.

Some people do not believe breaking is an ESSENTIAL part of the game. CJ thinks so for example. The break's purpose is just to randomize the ball and you are not supposed to master that otherwise it would not be random anymore.

Makes sense to me. Even if other players worked hundreds of hours on their game, like shane... it sounds like shane made a better choice about what part of the game to work on. He understands it's the most important shot.
