Fedor needs to become a USA citizen...(edit) I mean, sure would be a help on the Mosconi cup team..

If Fedor gets his citizenship then yes, he becomes an American. As far as Shaw, I don't think you should be allowed to play for Europe if you have permanent residency in the U.S. One poster said that Fedor has slipped a bit. One thing you can't see is what is going on in their personal lives and how that might be affecting them. WPM in my opinion is nothing but a coin flip.

Gorst will be playing for Europe for at least the next 5 years till his citizenship is (maybe) approved.

He's already played once for Europe.

Seems unlikely that after playing for Europe at least 6 times that he would then switch sides.

Even with American citizenship, all that does is give Fedor and Shaw both duel citizenship, it don't make them Americans, nor does it erase the citizenship from the country's they're from. Allison Fisher has been living in the US for about 30 years and still has her duel citizenship with Great Britain.

Matchroom chose a strong replacement.
I was wondering since Gorst was a seeded player why Matchroom didn't replace him with the next highest seeded player - Ko Pin Yi at 13th.

Or if he couldn't make it Eklent Kaci at 14th.

Both are a different calibre then Duong Quoc Hoang

I thought that is exactly what it does?? In order to gain citizenship, don't you have to put your hand over your heart and make the Pledge of Allegiance?

Yeah, in my mind naturalized citizens are MORE American than someone who was born here by accident. The process is exhausting and should be exhausting, and if you make it through you've earned the right to call yourself an American.

I must guess that Fedor won't be at the UK Open, either, as it begins on May 30. Looks like another year in which he'll miss the overseas Matchroom majors (World Pool Championship, UK Open and he may or may not miss the European Open in August in Germany). Yes, we know he'll mass produce titles in America and may even top the AZB 2023 money list, but it's just not the same.

It's unfortunate for the many of us who can't wait to see Fedor mixing it regularly up with FSR, Filler and some of the other proven champions that play the full contingent of Matchroom events. None of it is Fedor's fault, for his visa and immigration issues must remain his top priorities as he sorts out his life in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Finally, I don't think it's premature to say that Fedor will be very hard pressed to qualify on points for 2023 Team Europe and will need to be a wild card selection to make the Mosconi team. I think we've been down that road before.

Very disappointing that Fedor's visa problem reared its ugly head again. Would have been a fan's delight to see him matching up with not only Ruiz but the other top names on the European tour. I guess we'll just have to debate who's the best, and we won't get to see who is best. It would be interesting to see what the issue is, as it was apparent that some thought the issues with playing overseas had been resolved. I guess not.

A lot of the player‘s visa problems are their own failures to take care of their own business…but in Fedor’s case, I don’t think so.
I think all player’s need notifications earlier…..the Euros are fortunate for many of them.

it really isn't. quite often it boils down to fedor vs billy in the semis, fedor vs gomez in the finals.. rinse, repeat.. feels like if you've seen one of those minor PPV streamed events, you've seen them all. jmho.
