SVB's amazing kick shot at the Dixieland Classic event

I believe I could setup and attempt the SVB shot 1000 times and not make the successful 10b carom once.

But I'm confident that with 1000 tries, I'm making the Efren Z shot at least a few times.

Therefore, I do think this Shane shot is harder.

The issue with trying a shot 1000 times in a row, like the "Z" shot for example, is each time you would dial it in closer and closer after seeing your results, so after say 20 times at most, you would know exactly where to hit the rail to make contact.

From thereafter you would make "contact" almost every time, so now it would be just a matter of how often you got "lucky" and also pocketed the ball......in 1000 tries (in a row) a normal person would get lucky quite a few times.....

A more accurate test would be to set up a "different" Z shot every time, and try 1000 different shots.....the normal player would pocket zero.....because they dont get the free learning curve....

just rambling..............

If you keep hitting the same spot on the cushion, the hit changes...
...the rubber gets quicker and shorter.

All I know is if I had shot that and made it that cueball wouldn't have danced out of that side pocket like that :)

Good point. I agree with you about being able to dial in on the z if trying to replicate it over and over.

with that said, I believe it would still be an easier chance to make a difficult z shot *cold* before making the shot Shane made here and I would go cold random z shots vs trying that exact same SVB shot over and over.

Ultimately, to go into a cushion and launch whitey over an obstructing ball and then to land so specifically perfect to thin the object ball such that it billiards off just right to make the 10b which was no hanger, well that is some amazing long odds.

I would be 100% agreeing with garzcar if it were just to make a hit then, yes, I think the shot shane did would be a better % but to actually pot the 10b, I'm taking cold z shots all day long.

And all day long still may not be enough.:grin:

and without getting overly analytical (I know, it's too late), we were orig talking about SVB & Efren who are def not 'normal players'. ;)

Well

Shane played it like I would have and Efren made the z shot like I would have.

I thought every one knew those shots.

If any of you would like to come to Alaska I will take you to my garage and demonstrate them for you on my 9' table.

It would only take me a few thousand tries for each shot, so be patient please.

Lucky and low percentage shots or what ever, shots like that are fun to watch!
