SW Franklin pre-date

better for who? The people that collect cues? If you are a guy that liked the cue and wanted to play with it, I don't think it would be better for him. As KJ mentioned, its his cue, he is happy, whats the issue?

How would he know if the cue would play the same? The cue was altered dramatically by a different maker negating the cues original hit. Could it possibly have retained a good hit after the work?, sure, but there is no way to tell that until after the work is done. It was done because of the roll in the butt which MAY even have been normal and to make it "purdy" again. As for the roll, I guess we'll never for sure know now will we.

Second, to do this with a very rare and desireable "collectable" worth big $ without using the original shop is just, well lets just say I'd like to keep my comments kid proof.

As far as the OP saying he may eventually send it back to SW, well I'd bet dollars to doughnuts he'd be out of luck because they prabably would refuse to work on the Frankencue then put their name on it.

For the record, I'm glad he's happy. It's his cue. But that dont make me cringe any less...

I agree, cringe too, but to each their own. :)

That's the cue. Darrin's wife at the time put it on the auction sight for me.

Wow that's amazing! This is definitely the most historic cue that I own not just because is a Franklin cue. Because the history, to have known the original owner and the history behind it, combined to my own history when I bought it 10 years ago when my second daughter was born in the US.
I have many cues but this one is special.
And as I mention, the financial value of this cue is not relevant as this point, this personal instrument with combined personal history from you and mine.
Thanks for sharing JazzboxBlues I really do appreciate it!!!
