I'm thinking of getting a table, and all the accessories. How much space do I need, should it be a gold crown or a diamond, and does anyone have a lead on a good mechanic? Maybe a cheap old Gandy would work too. I like simonis but I heard that granito stuff is good and not as expensive. Tournament blue? Or traditional green? I actually saw that scientists think tan cloth smells better. I was thinking of triple shimming down to 4.13 inches, but maybe that's too tight? Should I just stick with 4.5? I heard some go as low as 3.7621. Super speed rails, or dymondwood? What does RKC think?
Actually I'm not even sure I have enough space, maybe I'll go with a 7-footer. Does anyone else like pool on a barbox?
For a cue I was thinking a Jim Lee custom, does anyone have any experiences with that cue maker? I was also looking at some of Trent Cowgill's work. I could also see getting a southwest or scruggs. What's the best custom cue you ever used? How would you describe the hit? over or under 19 ounces? Do I keep the shaft that came with it or get a Predator Z2? Or maybe an OB2? Except I heard the OB Classic has a stiffer hit. Then there's always one of the birdseye maple options. Anyone have an opinion on one vs. the other?
Do these low deflection shafts even do anything or is it all voodoo nonsense? I'm thinking leather wrap or maybe irish linen, unless I go wrapless. Anyone see the new cuetecs? What's the best way to ship it? Currently I'm using a LePro but I was thinking of going with a Kamui tip. How long am I supposed to soak it, and do I use 2% or whole milk?
I'd like a set of Aramith balls but do I go with the TV colors or not? I heard you draw better with a red dot cue ball but I think I draw worse with a pink 4, so I only use a measles ball. What about the red circle?
Is Kamui chalk really worth it? I heard you can't buy it anymore because the man who made it was a ninja chemist and he died in battle, so the price was going up. Would someone sell me some pre-flag master? I heard the blue lead tastes better than the green and you will go twenty years without a miscue. I also like Blue Diamond, but only if it comes in gray. What do you guys think about red chalk?
Do I get a jump/break too? Or a dedicated jump and break cue? Except I heard the phenolic tips will put cigarette burns on your balls. I guess I'll get a BK2 but the BK3 is awfully tempting, I saw that it added 10 mph to that one dude's break. Maybe I should just skip the jump cue, the APA banned it after all, and some pro players told me they're basically cheating.
