Stopped in Friday for a little visit with Mike O'Hara at his new digs, "Sweet Tooth Billiards, in the Great Skate Plaza, 43rd ave & Peoria, Glendale.
Mike is just putting the finishing touches on what has to be one of the classiest pool establishments I have ever seen. (and I've seen a few)
Those who have been around the Phx. area for a while, will remember Mike owned, and ran, a great place (Casino Billiards) on Bell Rd. for several years.

I sure hope Mike gets the support of the billiard community he needs to realize a return on this gutsy venture, in these uncertain economic times.
Mike tells me he should be up and running Wed. or Thurs. of this coming week.

Best of luck to a guy who KNOWS how to run a Pool room.

Well I hope the guy can make a go of his new Pool/Coffee/Ice Cream business venture in the economy, a personally can not believe all the businesses that are closing, layoff employees, or cutting back hours of operation.
 
I think it will be tough to make it without beer in there but I wish him the best and from the good things I have heard he has my support and will do whatever I can to help out. :smile:
 
Stingers is with in a short Walk, Stinger Sports Bar that is if you have to have a BEER. I personally do not undertsand why the owner did not go for, and get a license to sell Beer.

I think it is a wise decision on his part. The Golden Cue never had beer, and it did real good for a lot of years.
Why add the headache ID-ing minors and the ABC hasseling you.
Plus Stingers is just a few steps away (like Dan's Lounge was at the GC.)

SJDinPHX I think you are 1/2 correct about the headaches of serving alcohol, but there is a very good profit margin in BEER. IMHO time will tell if it is wise decision on the owner part.
