Sweetwater cue?

Coos Cues
One of my league team mates has a cue made by Jeff Bonner's Sweetwater USA that he is trying to pawn to me. He thinks it's worth all kinds of money but I am seriously skeptical. The forearm looks like a hemlock 2x4 stained with easter egg dye and the handle is some kind of wood so dark you can't really identify it but I doubt that's it's color in nature. He claims the joint and butt are ivory and I don't know enough to confirm or deny it but am skeptical of that claim too. I don't know if any of those Sweetwater cues had actual ivory or not or how to identify it. I know Jeff's history of Sweetwater from reading the internet and know this is not a custom cue, which he also claims. Plus it's in fair to not quite good shape with a lot of dings and has a slight roll out and needs a new ferrule. My question is does this thing have any value at all for which I could safely loan this guy some money on it assuming I will be the owner in the end?

Thanks,

JC
