Well, think about this,
You whould probably loose around .125 to .250 in length,
Think of the cost to replace the collar, ask around...
The forearm would have to be (should be) refinished, would up the cost.
What do you mean by wood joint? A wooden joint collar, a flat faced wood to wood joint? Both?
It could cost you more than if you just get a cue already like that,
I'm sure somebody here could give you a good quote,
I would say it should cost around $100 + on up to $300 +, depending on who does it, and what you want...

Thanks,

Jon

Joey,

This would not be hard to do. It would not make the cue shorter if done properly.

You could use a long phonlic piece and have a cap on it, or just plug the cue, to take up the length missing becase of the SS, joint. You could add silver rings or what ever so it would still look nice. Cost for this would be, including re-coating the front, about $160.00. This would also include making the shaft [one] a flat face. For two shafts, add another $45.00.....

Hey, you got any Jamaican joints?
Oops, that's a different kind of joints. :D
I had an SS joint collar removed by Judd one time.
He made me take the ss collar out. He gave me a thick leather to heat up the steel while the butt was spinning. After my hand was on fire and the glue started to melt, the collar came off.
Judd then nagged me for requesting an ss collar. Made the cue front heavy and hit like kaka. I've never had an ss collared cue since then. Not the thick variety anyway.
Hey, you seen an x-ray of a Judd? His points are more concentric my two index fingers up my nostrils. I'm gonna drive up there in the boonies of Yellowjacket and steal his mill.

SS Joints suck, buy my pechauer (retired now...) hits good, as do many of the Schons i've hit with, but nothing beats wood to wood...
Never seen the x-ray, send 'er on.
If i drive, and help lift it, we are in for halfers right???

Thanks,

Jon
