Swoop or not with BHE?

I've always pre-set my cue position prior to my final stroke when using BHE.

I have a lot to say but instead on writing a book, I'm a new swooping fan with BHE. Well, I use almost a hybrid technique. I might set the cue with 1/2 the english I need and swoop the balance during my final shot.

I find I can utilize a full follow-through and stop the swoop at the "make-point" regardless if I'm bridging exactly at the pivot point. My bridge is fairly long - which I think is required.

Not sure if any of this means anything, or if it's totally happenstance (it might be). I've been doing it for a month now and I can't see going back.

Just one bumpa-lumpa for anyone else playing with this kind of stuff. I guess I'm the Lone Ranger on here with this (I usually am the Lone Ranger with my stuff...different is good).

In general, I stroke straight through the shot when applying english. But when I do have to apply extreme english, such as spinning a shot in, I do tend to swoop for that extra bit of tip offset.

I do the same thing you do, Dave with a couple of exceptions-

I set my tip to "3/4 of the english I need, then swoop the last 1/4", if that makes sense. Also, I don't swoop when the OB is a long ways off or, if I need to hit the CB hard and the OB is more than a couple of diamonds away.

Also, when I say swoop, I'm not talking about any kind of exaggerated arm movement, rather, a subtle twisting in my grip hand.

Same here... it's not a big swoop. My cue is not the same as my starting position, that's all. It's subtle...but really effective.

I've been playing with this a little too. When I shot the first 15 years of my career, I always used a parallel adjustment and feel, not as much was discussed about BHE/FHE/etc. back then (5 years ago). Since I started playing again, I'm always up for learning new things, so I've been experimenting with certain shots that I used to shoot by feel and using BHE on them.

Seems more accurate, takes some of the guess work out, but I'm still not comfortable with a solid approach - i.e., when to pivot. What I do now is sight the ball as if I was hitting center ball, go through my pre shot routine, pivot, then take 1 more stroke, then shoot. I've been trying lately trying to pivot before getting down on the shot, but it feels weird stroking off line as it were, especially after using different technology and doing it differently for such a long period of time years ago.

I've tried the swoop thing a little too, and that seems to help too. I guess I'll just keep playing with it and discussing here. Always trying to learn and get better. And no, you are not alone...
