A friend of mine called me and asked me if I would have anyidea what this table could be worth. I told her it would depend on the condition, of course. She moved from Florida and while living there the insurance company appraised it for $11k but that was several years ago. The table had a light rail refinish in 1996. I would say the table is in 80-85% condition overall but definitely in good shape for it's age.

It has the elephant legs (I think) or that's how she referred to them with mother of pearl inlays for the rail diamonds. They do show some age however but again in good shape overall.

Does anyone have an appraisal for this table? I will answer any questions that I can. I would have liked to have taken a picture to post here but the table has been disassembled.

Thanks,

Gary

My grandfather had a very similar table growing up. When I was 19 and living in my first apt, he told me he had sold the table on the cheap to some guys as he wanted to room to do someother things.
I got upset he didnt offer it to me since he let it go for $600, and he said he didnt think id want it since i didnt have the room (id have gotten a rental shed until i DID have room lol).
Anyhow, he sells stuff really cheap to nice people often, more to give it away to someone than to make cash, but when I gave the table info to some people they all quoted 15-23k... HE was the one who got a little ill then.

But god do I ever wish I had that table. it was a thing of beauty and would have made a gret heirloom for me to pass to my son some day.

older brunswick tables rarely sell for that much. The only one that I am familiar with(and I was a Brunswick dealer) that sells consistently for more than 5k is the Monarch model with metal legs. Ask the guys at Blatt billiards, and there is also a guy out of Maryland that can help you. Matt

Thanks muttley76!!

The lady told me that it was a Regina model but on the plate in the headrail it said 'Brunswick Balke-Collander' and below that it had 'Monarch rails' I think. I doknow it said monarch something or other, anyway.

But thanks for help anyway. Maybe someone else could chime in and tell me something.

BTW, the table is a 1 owner, too. Her father in law purchased in 1925. How rare is that!!:D

Muttley76 and others,

Here are some pics of a 1918 BBC 4x8 for your dining and dancing pleasure. You ever see slate with a stamp on it like this? It also has a purple hue to it. The nameplate is interesting too as it lists some cities on it. The trademark stamp is interesting as is the stamps on the underside of the rails. Also included a pic of one of the diamonds.

A Regina is one of the more common antique tables. They are NOT elephant legs (like the medalist, kling, arcade etc).

They rarely sell for a lot ($10-$15k) unless you are buying them (LOL) - seriously they should be in the $5-$8 range. But there is a lot that has to checked out when buying an antique.

Pay close attention to the condition of the wood slate liners - the wood on the rails - particularly around the pockets, - and the pocket wooden liners (if they have them).

The rail caps might also be loose and need repair. Most times these tables are NO WHERE near the condition the owner says they are in. Be very cautious.

Thank you very much, Mark!!

I actually saw the table but again it was disassembled. It was in remarkably good shape for its age. I picked up nearly every piece and examined throughly looking for damage and there was virtually none outside of the normal wear.

I don't know alot about these tables but (reluctantly before I had consulted the professionals here) did give her a rough estimate of between 4500-5500 after she had to have one. I have called another person who would know as well but haven't received anything from him yet. I also told her that without seeing the table assembled it was difficult to gage the true integrity of the table. Thanks again!!!!!!
