No offense, but anything but Slate is a very poor investment, IMO. Most "tables" of this quality will last only but a couple of years, if that. It also makes for a very poor practice table as well.
Why not go for one of the import Chinese "Imperial" brand tables with 1 inch think slate? They can be had for about $1,500 new, and will last a long time, and some play pretty well. It's no Gold Crown III or anything, but certainly quite acceptable.
Also consider a fire sale on a used table. If it's properly moved and installed, it can be a great investment as well.
If your like me, and like a good value for your money, and it sounds like you do, since you are asking, the best price is not always the best value. The worst part is that you sometimes never learn what quality is until it's too late. For even a casual player, say three or four hours a week, a Slatron table will not get the job done.
