Table Felt ?

I acquired a 9' Brunswick Medalist table from a local pool room. I don't know what cloth is on it, but rolls very slow.

I have the table set up in my basement rec room, which I am going to remodel next year.

After I do the remodel, I'm going to cover the table with a good cloth, probably simonis. But I would like to put a decent, economical cloth on till then, one that rolls fairly fast (similar to simonis, if possible).

Any suggestions, sources would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mike,

Before you choose a "cheap" cloth, check out the price difference up to S860. You might find the cost differential to be minimal. Most of the cost of recovering is the dis-assembly and re-assembly of the table. If you are a tournament player, use 860. It is pretty much the standard today. In your basement, you might want to consider 860 HR (humidity resistant). Good luck!

if you want to put something lesser expensive now and simonis later,,,try championship 'titan',,,I just covered a bar box with it and it is fas-s-s-s-st (for a 7 footer....)

i would assume that you are a pretty good player..i don't think you will be happy with anything less than that Simonis 860 you dream of...a year away from remodeling is a long time .and the wit may even be longer......get the cloth you want..Simonis 860 is not that much more expensive..you will be very happy you did...that Brunswick and Simonis will really be great for you..so go out and order it you deserve it !!!!!!!keep us posted on what you decide.......

Thanks for the replies.

If I put the simonis on now, what are the ramifications of taking the table apart for the remodel? Can the cloth be reinstalled without any problems?

Also, any good sources for purchasing simonis?

Again, thanks for the info.

Mike

I had my simonis installed, removed then reinstalled when i moved. The table mechanic i used lined it back up perfectly and it playes great, the break line is nearly dead straight. I think the best method for removing and reinstalling the cloth would be to draw a line all the way around the edge of the table, when it gets re stretched try to make sure this line is centered and square again, not necessarily back in the same place, as you might want it stretched a bit more.
