I have a Gold Crown 3 and when shooting down the long rails at the corner pockets it rolls twords the center of the table on both sides of the table. Obviously the center of my slate is lower than the outside near the rails. Can I put shims under the center support between the frame and the slate backing to cure this? Thanks for any help

That's how a great table mechanic in NorCal would fix the problem. You need to be careful not to pop the slates seams though. He does this prior to installing new cloth and checks the seams after leveling.

all gold crowns are very well built, large sturdy frames,so this shouldnt be happening.i think your tables problems are beyond adding any shims at this point,id bet the frame has loosened up a lil allowing the weight of the slate to cause it to sag in the middle, you might be able to improve it by adding some shims but it wont cure your problem and it may make it worse if your mechanic used a non flexible joint sealer and you pop or crack them open.maybe your slate or frame has warped somehow ?how old is the table? how many times has it been taken apart?your frame needs to be inspected and releveled correctly before the slate goes on.

I wonder if it happens on the other side of the table as well. Does it Glenn? I guess you'll have to move that wall to find out. LOL.

i will tell you about a very strange story that just occured to a friend of mine...his table has always played perfectly..he playes on it almost everyday of the year...well he went to play and noticed that the balls were rolling off as the table was now mysteriously unlevel today..the day before the table was perfect as always....well he could not figure what went wrong ..it was driving him nuts......after a week he resigned to the fact that he would hire an expert mechanic...mechanic came out and noticed right away under the table that 2 shims were missing!!!!!!these were shims that were under the table leveling the slate........ to make it short ..he found the shims in his lil boys (5yrs.old) toy box in his room !!!! here his boy had taken his play hammer and knocked the shims out !!!!!!!!!!!the boy said he learned to use tools and fix things as he watches "This old house "with his dad !!!!!!!!!!!! lol Play pool and have fun everybody

lol,i have heard that before cuejoey! lotsa things can and do go wrong, its hard to diagnose a table without seeing it and knowing the history of it.dont worry el nino, the gold crown can be saved.
