Table Light Questions

I've always had fluorescent shop lights over my pool tables. You know, the cheap 4 foot bulb kind. They work great, but I'm looking for something different. How are the 4 lamp style lights. Can you put a fluorescent bulb in those so they cast the same light on the table? Any ideas?

I use 4 foot "day light" bulbs on my table. Really lights up the playing field.

Way better than "soft light" or "shop Light"

Table light question

I have a 4 light table light. I had incandescent bulbs in it. One burned out, so I switched it to a compact fluorescent. I found that it doesn't throw off as much light as the incandescent, even though it is rated for the same wattage. I think I'm using 60 watt bulbs (I think the fluorescent is 15 watt...or whatever the equivalent to 60 watt bulbs is). It is on the end, and that side of the table isn't as bright as the middle and other side.

I also don't really like the way it lights the balls. The shadows are just different. I just like the way the incandescent bulbs light the table...even though the fluorescent last longer and burn cooler. I also never cared much for they way the long shop light style bulbs lit the table,even though most everywhere I've played use that set up. I guess it is a matter of personal preference.

That being said...I haven't tried the day-light bulbs yet. I had them in other parts of the house and thought the light was too harsh, so I didn't try them over the table.
