Nobody can help? There must be someone good who teaches this info.:confused:

I don't have an instructor, but I do have a drill.

Place the balls openly on the table away from pockets and rails.
Give yourself Ball in Hand,
Run the table in rotational order {1->2->3...}

When you don't have a shot, play a safety so you alter ego can't get a shot. Score 1 when you succede in not giving a shootable shot to your alter ego; Score -1 when you sell-out. Play yourself to 50 {or 100,...}

Early in the rotation rack, safeties are easy. Later they are not.

This practice combines long distance position and safety play.

{alternate game}
Place balls within 2 balls width of each other in the center of the table.
rest of the above applies

This practice combines delicate position and safety play.

Great teachers

My vote is for Tom Ross master instructor here in Denver.He writes for Billiards Digest and a instructional section every month for the pool mag here in Denver the cuetimes.Very knowledgeable about all aspects of safety play and great table management as well as the all critical mental side.

In my opinion, there is no better person to talk to about such matters than Ginky. Unfortunately, I know nothing about where he's playing, if he teaches or what his rates are. I do know that he's probably the most creative defensive players I've ever played.

SJM is also highly regarded in theories of table management. Although he is an all-around solid player, he attributes much of his success to an intelligent approach to pool. He is an expert on two-way shots and bumping balls into better position, especially when it comes to 9ball. I don't believe he teaches but feel free to PM him if you like.
