Table Unlevel for second time

Hi all,

Not sure how much advice can be given about this, but I'd appreciate anything I could get.

I had a table professionally installed about 6 months ago.

My mechanic has some super high end level and sure enough everything rolled right for about 4 months and then I started a getting significant roll off towards the right side of the table as pictured.

He came out and fixed it cheap and all was great until this week, about 2 months later. Now the table is rolling off to the right end again, and is even worse than before. shooting side rail to side rail, the ball will curve a diamond or more. It seems the shims under the bottom right leg are a little off center, but this couldn't be the culprit, could it?

The table rolls off to the right end rail if I shoot on either side of the table. The table is an 8x4 on laminate flooring. I'm not rough with it, no kids, etc. The only contact I make with it is on stretch shots, and the shims appear to be rubberized.

Any thoughts on causes/solutions would make me very grateful.

Aloha,

What is the subfloor? Is it on concrete, or is this in a multi level home? Ar there floor joists under the two diagonal legs and not under the other two as the table looks to be canted in the room?

Just a few thoughts, could bow the table and settle the floor if there are joists under them. If it is on concrete then it's anybodies guess.

Good luck.

Aloha

Just a renter, so unfortunately I have no idea. This is on the bottom floor of a two story house with no basement.

My mechanic has some super high end level and sure enough everything rolled right for about 4 months and then I started a getting significant roll off towards the right side of the table as pictured.

He came out and fixed it for $20 and all was great until this week, about 2 months later. Now the table is rolling off to the right end again, and is even worse than before. shooting side rail to side rail, the ball will curve a diamond or more. It seems the shims under the bottom right leg are a little off center, but this couldn't be the culprit, could it?

The shims are compressing under the feet.

I can tell this table is an import from the picture. Which the construction of your table could be the problem. One way to determine the quality of a table is by how long it will stay level. Many of these import tables have weak frame liners and warp rails. They also have metal brackets holding the frame and legs together, leaning on the table could cause shifting.

Could be - It's a Southern Legacy with Backed slate and the frame seems to be well supported. I checked with a couple of professionals before I bought it, and was told it was a good table for the money. I realize it's not a Diamond, but it shouldn't be falling out of line after 2 months.

I'm going to have my guy come over and take a last crack at it, and then I'll probably get a second opinion to see if there's anything that can be done. Maybe the house is just screwed up, and there's nothing that can be done.

Thanks for the info.

I feel like an unbelievable idiot, but I'm fairly certain the issue is the floor. It's not even remotely level, and placing a pool ball one the floor at foot of the table causes it to roll freely to the head. As an engineer, I should know better. I imagine the problem has been getting worse over the last 6 months causing my alignment issues.

I haven't been able to see RKC's pictures yet, but it seems like the best way to handle this until I can find a different place to live.

Unless the floor is still moving, a pool table can be leveled on any uneven floor, that's the point of leveling a pool table....because most floors are not level.

I would glue a rubber pad (not to thick) under the legs (for friction) and use a 6"x6" metal plate under the legs to get you close to level at the frame and then fine tune it at the slate. Like Glenn said, you are compressing the shim if you have a lot of shims and probably scooting the table off the shims some.

Look at my Facebook page, Glen Hancock, I show how to install leg levelers on tables like yours.

Glen - I went to your Facebook page and could not find where you show how to install leg levelers on a table that doesn't have them originally. Or did I read your reply in error?

What shims would you recommend to be used under the feet of a Brunswick Brixton table?

Thanks!
