The table you like is the best.. Every quality table is as good as the next. However from current experience I think Diamonds tables are the one's to buy/own as service is most likely easier to come by as Diamond seems to have certified/authorized mechanics around the country or one's that will travel. They are trained to service Diamonds exclusively. To get other than a Diamond serviced means a long wait as Mechanics are backed ...and parts might be needed causing another delay. What is your experience with waiting for service. Would you consider a Diamond on that alone. I'm giving it thought but that hurts as I'm a diehard GC fan.

Our local Diamond certified mechancs are booked until late March at present. They work on any type of table, not just Diamond.

The shop owner explained that due to the Covid 19 pandemic, people are spending more time at home. Many have tables that need work that has probably been put off for some time. Now, they are wanting the work done due to more use.

Diamond makes a great table, you should buy one because that is what you want. If you want a GC, or, whatever table it is that you like, get one.

I withdraw my comments. I thought Diamonds guys were a little quicker to connect with. I realize they service almost any table. Even before covid...waiting for rails to get done was a project. 2 weeks became 5
7 weeks to get them back.

I will visit the shop twice a month on average. I see 4, 5, and, 6 sets of rails getting done each time. Last visit, there were only 2 sets. It takes a lot of time and care to do the job right.

Why would a mechanic need to take the rails back with him to their shop/home? Most mechanics will recover the rails/cushions on site to save an unnecessary second trip. The exceptions to this might be when they are either installing new rubber cushions or if they are extending the sub rails then reinstalling new cushions.

Coz a smart man has things like jigs in his shop.

Probably has an ink line or 5 on the workbench for choppin first cuts too.

I read the thread on the problem with the restoration. Was this table in PA. or FL? Last time we PM'ed you were trying to like the looks of a VI. Anyway I've been thinking John Burns could set up that table if you're in PA. now.

I would be just so pissed. You are maintaining composure well.

In Florida. Pissed? I offered the table to my nephew. That’s how pissed I am. He cannot accommodate it. Still trying to love the VI. Wondering how bad the black matte looks. The new Cent is tempting but not out yet. If I have to wait 2-3 months I’d order new custom rails for the current Centennial.

Exactly...Had new cushions and extensions done on a GC 4 after 12 years.

That new Cent. sells for 12grand iirc. Have rail work done right and you're gonna be pushing 15k. Yikes.

I think the price is list. GC6 are usually discounted 20%. Yikes is right.
One stop shop, you can always talk to Trent. He sells Diamond and Brunswick. That being said, I went into AMA here in Metairie and looked at a GC6 floor model. The corner castings weren’t flush, one of them was sticking up high enough I could cut myself on it. Based on that I wouldn’t buy one. Trent said when he installed them the castings are flush. I also think it’s ugly. A matte black one might look better. Isn’t the GC6 something like 4 grand more than the Diamond? The Professional comes standard with 4.5” corners.

I’m guessing on a floor model, they may not even set it up completely and torque all the bolts down tightly, which is likely why the castings were not flush with the rail tops. I wouldn’t be too concerned about that.

I think I am a long lost nephew of yours and I can accommodate a 9' table. :):):)

PS, Im not making fun of your situation, I truly feel for you, in fact there is a possibility I would be sitting in front of the sellers house with a ******** (fill the blank in yourself, I could see trouble coming for even saying the word I am thinking) to convince the seller to make things right with me.

But one SHOULD BE concerned about the same guys coming to put one in his house.

I don't think Brunswick's 'certified' installers have ever been particularly good (some MUST BE good)...and I worked at a top 5% dealer for years.

I had authorised Brunswick techs set up a new GC in 1998. Had a few set up flaws. Would never use again. And yes to the same guys coming back. No way.
