Tables you refuse to play on

Playing on a table that is poorly maintained, with incorrectly shimmed pockets, too hard or too soft cushions, poor lighting, extremely worn cloth, inconsistent or loose rails, out-of-level,odd pocket angles or shelf depth, will keep me off. Add tables and walls too close and excessive people traffic etc. These are what will keep me off.

All of these things describe the tables we play on on Tuesdays. They just flat out suck and are just frustrating. I'm not opposed to a tough table that plays fair but those Gandy's we play on are just horrible.[/QUOTE]

Sounds like a Slick Willie's. They have those 4 legged Gandy's at a lot of their locations.

We have a few tables (not very old ones, actually) at our pool room that are way too quick (which I don't like), but what's more: some of the rails are quicker than others (on the same table, that is).

Also, the sound of a ball dropping is just butt-ugly. Not of greatest importance, sure, but it does not help me liking that table. A nice 'clack' is like a reward for a good shot and a 'fluddeluh' is just not.

What does it matter? Your opponent is playing on same table and conditions.

Normally I would agree with you....I hate red or any dark cloth..but it’s the same for both.
...but Brunswick, a long time ago, sold a silver cloth...would go grey with use....
...I couldn’t see on that cloth.......took a ball and a half off my game.

Not everybody’s eyes are the same.
