Taig Breeze CNC Feedback

Hey Gang,

I'm looking to invest in one of these units, but before I drop the coin on one I wanted to look for some feedback from people that actually use this machine.

I know that there are other Taig units available but figured that the breeze package Lee is offering seems to be fair.

So for those that have one I pose the following questions:

- Bang for the buck: Is it worth the price?
- Is the machine adequate for the a non-production user?
- Is the accuracy good enough.
- Use the stock spindle or get the Kress mount?
- What other optional fixtures for the Taig should I consider?
- Alternatives? Anything else better for the same or slightly more $? If I can stay under $5k for a very nice unit I'll be happy.

I should also point out that I'll only be using it for inlays and maybe ring billets, and maybe some other small CNC stuff. I have a taper setup on my lathe so I won't need that capability necessarily.

Any other bits of info or feedback are welcome as well. I just don't want to drop $3k+ for a machine that I'll wish that I had spent more on something different.

Regards,
Frank

Frank, I am biased to say the least. You will want both the stock spindle and the Kress router. That cnc will cut metal and aluminum for making your own fixtures and other items you may desire. You can of course buy one or the other, but to be I recomend both.

Jim.

Is there anyone else out there with first hand experience on these or is it simply too soon with not many units in service yet?

Any feedback is welcomed.

Frank

Still advertized

It still shows on his web site and I think there's still one on eBay. It looks like a good deal, but, I too would like to hear from someone who actually bought one.

I thought the Breeze was an outdated model and the new one was called the Storm.

I believe the Storm will do some things the Breeze can't, but that doesn't necessarily make the Breeze outdated as the prices are different.

The breeze can only do inlays and cut half spliced points (cnc inlay machine).. The storm can do inlays, half spliced points and do tapering. Neither are out dated. He is just selling 2 styles of machines..

Ok, anyone have either of these units, breeze or storm, or are they vaporware?
I have up to $5k to spend, but I'm not going to spend that much on an unproven piece of machinery without some real world feedback.

The Breeze is not being produced anymore in favor of the Storm, that makes it outdated. Nothing wrong, just an earlier model that has been replaced. Like a 1 gig computer you could buy brand new last year, is outdated by the current model available with 10 gig.

I don't know where you get your information. Lee still has the Breeze available on his website and I'm sure he would build one for anybody that called him.

It's nothing more than a Taig Mill with an extended bed. There are many builders who use this exact machine whether they bought it from Lee or elsewhere.

Chris also sells something similar. The advantage to buying it from one of these two is that you don't have to build your own fixture to hold the cue. They also both build cues and can help you get things going.

I was unaware that Chris is selling these as well.
I took a look at his site but found nothing. Can you provide a link please.

Thanks for the link, Joe.

After giving this a little more thought, I think I'm going at this wrong.
Instead of deciding on the Breeze early on like I did, I should probably look at other machines as well.
I'll start a more appropriate thread and go from there, but will leave this one here for the Breeze feedback, if there is any.

Thanks!
Frank

I would be extremely careful when dealing with Lee. Chris on the other hand is an excellent choice. I speak from experience.

I'm in the process of building a small desk top style cnc , with ball screws , 4th axis , motors controller , spindle ,cue leveling system for inlays only. it will be complete minus computer and software all for around 4k ,I'm trying so hard to stay under that 4k mark. also I will be selling the baddest table saw machine in the world. it will do shafts, butts , forearms, cue tappers, rounds u name it it will handle it. FYI guys; this thread is nearly 3 years old. I've since found my machine (and it isn't a Breeze). Thanks for all the current 'heads up' and appropriate warnings regarding Lee. Thankfully I figured him out long ago and the PM's are not necessary. Thanks anyway!
