Taking over pool hall

I'm in the process of taking over a pool room. has 10 nine foot gold crowns mostly 3's 2 fours. I have an old snooker table available that needs new rubber and cloth. Pool Hall is currently running. need to freshen up and recover tables.
1. Should I buy and invest in redoing the the snooker table.
2.I was thinking of adding 2 bar tables. Either removing two 9 footers or snooker.
3. Need to increase traffic. adding alcohol is out. Welcome any ideas.

I assume you mean 6'x12' (not 12x20). If no booze (EVER)....what about hours?? What kind of competition (if any) do you have? How long has the room been open?? Why did you wind up with the room??

1. I always wanted to play snooker, where in PA are you at?
3. Fusco's in Trevose, PA is BYOB, seems to satisfy the drinking crowd.
 
Do you have time to run an in-house league, or tournament? Check BCAPL website for the requirement to sanction a league. Also, you'll gain access to use leaguesys, if you don't want to roll your own web solution.
 
Most leagues play on 7 foot tables. I would think it would be easier get these leagues with a couple of small tables.
Get a liquor license.

Get some 7-Footers

I would recommend getting some seven foot tables to add some variety. Most pool rooms I've been to have a combination of seven and nine foot tables. A seven foot barbox with large, forgiving pockets is more appealing to the novice player than a nine footer with smaller pockets is.

Not sure who your target clientele is. Is it the pool diehards that play lots of cash games and/or leagues, or is it the casual person who's just looking for a night out? The more serious pool players will like the nine footers, but the less serious will probably prefer the smaller tables. Just my opinion, though.
 
Looks like i'm leaning towards removing snooker table and installing 7 foot tables. Two tables possibly four. Prefer to put in Diamonds but don't know if I could afford them. What other brands should I look at?

Add the bar boxes , as many as you can !!! Find a reliable person and start in house leagues and run bar box tourneys . Start a one pocket tourney , even a 10 Ball league , and handicap them . Don't give away free pool . start a players club where members get a discount on anything pool related . Drinks and food full price . their membership fees can offset table and club upkeep . good equipment, well kept will get my money before anywhere else!!! I hope your room is a success , you have some nice tables for sure !!!;)The snooker won't generate much income , I love the game myself ...:wink:
 
If I had a room it would have both 7 and 9 foot tables. The leagues would love to have several Diamond bar boxes. They are worlds better than valleys.
 
Since you are asking advise, I'd like to ask, how much is the monthly rent?

Also, depending on the part of the country, bar tables without a bar might not be what I would do.
