I wasn't referring to you Varney, matter of fact I didn't even read your post. Lack of paragraph's make my head hurt.
I apologize for the misunderstanding then. Have a great weekend.

If you are having layered tips delam consistently, I would look at installation and care before passing blame to the tip itself...
Except when you use the same installer (or the same method if you install yourself) and the same maintenance routine on 2 layered tips of different manafacture and one consistently delams and the other doesn't then you have to question the manafacture process or the materials too.

Yes this is a breath of fresh air!

Thats nice too!
This board has some great people as members.

SDF

I have seen other boards where folks like FL  lurk and only try to down others and self promote themselves so this is great! :)

I'm new to layered tips, always used triangle or lepro standard tips but I have to say I am extremely happy with this Everest that came on my 314-2.

Thinking about trying a sniper on another cue I have here to see how I like it.

You missed the keyword in my post.
Consistently. :)

De lam

I have never had a sniper de laminate on me. You do know with a layered tip they recommend not using a tip pick right? If you used a tip pick I could see you helping the tip de laminate. Your only supposed to shape a layered tip according to what I have been told. I have only shaped my sniper tips once (once on each tip. I have them on two different shafts.) since installation and it still plays perfect.

I find that the Talisman (layered) tips are easier to take care of too....once you get them shaped up they don't need much maintenance

I would find a local guy to do the tip for you.....maybe $20 for a Talisman installed. You might wanna give a medium a try ;)

good choice there Ken!! I have used many types of tips, and now that I'm back to my MED. TALISMANS, I definitely won't change again. in my experience, triangles are too soft a hit, lepro's are just junk, triumphs are similar to triangles without the miscue-ing, and moori's just get WAY too much "english" for me to be consistent with them. there are other tips I've used, but not enough room here for details :D . those are the basics anyways...good luck with your selection!

Talisman tips are all I use and I've used almost every tip on the market. I used to over groom my talismans and did have some delamination issues. I received some advice to install the tip, let it break in, shape one time and leave it alone. Since then I've had the same tip on my cue for about a year now, still perfect.

The toughest obstacle to overcome is getting older players and people like myself who are used to constantly grooming solid tips to just leave layered tips alone. Old habits die hard.:)

That's just plain good advice.

Yes...with a layered tip...after the install...just play. If you do need it shaped or trimmed...take it back to your cueman. I offer this service FREE to my customers. If I put the tip on...bring it back to me at any time and I'll make it look new again...no charge...it only takes a couple of minutes on the lathe.;)

Yes, don't use a tip pick or a tip tapper on the laminated tips because you'll puncture the glue in between the layers. Scuffing it is not a prob, just don't pick it. I love talisman mediums and have them on both my Klein's.

DODGECHARGER.................I am sorry to hear that an envelope arrived with the hole in it and the tip gone. And i wrapped it in paper also. No problem. I wil put another 1 in the mail tomorrow and you should have it by Friday. Let me know when you get it..........................................mike
