The place I like to shoot at told me if I wanted to use Tan or brown chalk , they would rather I not shoot there ? Is a standard in the industry I never heard of . ??? Jim

If you are playing on green or blue cloth, the light colored chalk is very difficut to get out of the cloth. It's the same as using excessive hand chalk and leaving hand prints everywhere.

Any chalk other than the standard blue is crap chalk anyway so go along with the room owners wish and don't use the tan. I have tried the tan, silver, red and brown and none of them are as good as the blue, not sure why but that is the case.
