i am finding it does not stay on the tip as long as the green
a respected member who i asked about this told me "they do seem very similar, if there is a difference I would say it's the other way around, the blue seems to coat the tip better and stay on about the same."
for those that have tried both
what has been your experience?

i posted this in the cue accessory section but did not get many replies
so i am trying here in the main forum

I bought the blue v10 a couple weeks ago. At first I thought it was was better than the green v10 I had been using a few months. It seemed to stay on the tip better, and felt better applying.

Now, a couple weeks later, I think they are the same.

It might have been a placebo effect for me.

Well that's too bad. I appreciate the heads-up. I bought the the green V10 and loved it but wished it had come in blue.

Then I decided to buy the Pyro because it came in blue, I was thinking since both were made by the same company "how different could it be?"

Even though the Pyro is a clean chalk compared to most, it was not nearly as good as the V10 for grip and spin.

I wonder if the blue V10 is just Pyro re-badged?

Oh, could be more placebo:

A buddy had the square blue pagulayan chalk and I tried it a few seconds a couple days ago. It felt better going on the tip.

Again, probably placebo! Ha ha.

I have been using different Taom chalks for a few years. Pyro, V10 green and now V10 blue. I got V10 blue right at 2 months ago. My conclusion is that V10 blue is not my favorite chalk by Taom. I also agree that it appears to miscue more than other Taom chalks. I'm actually a little disappointed because I prefer blue chalk (for no reason other than optics).

the pagulayan blue is described as "more gritty" on his website
the pagulayan green is described as "creamier"

Try the Pagaluyan Green Chalk……..No one that bought it on my recommendation has been unhappy.
I quit counting after hitting double digits; Sierra Billiards now stocks it with the other pool merchandise.

IMO, the cube shape is so much better than the oval version. It applies so more easily than a dish shape
TAOM has. You can more easily brush apply corners of a cube to ensure it wears evenly so it lasts longer.

Forget the color & just get some Pagaluyan Green chalk made by TAOM. If you’re disappointed, you’d be
the 1st person to tell me I steered them wrong. It does not leave chalk marks or any dust. It is amazing (#1).

Most all miscues are stroke related, not chalk related. Shane uses Master. When was the last time you saw him miscue?
Last time i saw shane miscue was a long time ago
About the same last time i saw him miss 😂
I guess my attempt at humor was poor
Cowboy is a big fan of masters chalk
I also think you could be
Mistaken about my opinion of masters
It does its job and if you chalk every time i dont think it matters much
The taom is cleaner
My hands dont get as dirty nor does the table and skids are reduced
That to me is its selling point
And it lasts longer than a cube of masters

I like the pagulayan green and use it interchangeably with the taom V10 green

Both are on my table
I have a square holder for the taom so it still feels like a square piece of chalk and doesnt roll off the table

It's odd about Master and dirty hands. I've used Master a long time and have not had blueing issues on my hands except for the last 3-5 years and only when I play on anything other than my home table. When I ask the proprietors of the rooms where they get their chalk, all of them say Amazon. I can only surmise they are getting counterfeit Master chalk. When I play at home (I chalk before every shot) the Master chalk I bought from a reputable retailer doesn't make a mess.

The blue V10 is very different to the Pyro. Tried the Pyro and thought it was absolute trash, the blue V10 is better but still not mind blowing. I have recently started using the "oily" HOW chalk and I really like that.

Good to know, thanks for your assessment.
I was firmly in the Masters camp and still use it when playing on the equipment at the pool rooms.
Since switching to V10 at home I have only polished my set of balls once and I have had the chalk for a couple of years. I rarely have to vacuum the table either.

The money that V10 costs seems cheap to me now after saving time and money on polishing and vacuuming the cloth.

That could be, or it could also be that people at the hall are pigs. I've seen everything to the point I stopped noticing. Chalking over the table, chalk upside down, knocking the dust off the chalk/tip in the pockets/over the table etc.

Even if they clean the cloth, they're not cleaning the ball returns for years at a time. Most places are pretty lax on their cleaning schedule.

My experience with the Taom blue is that it gives all the grip I need... however, it does change shape.

So you have to realized that as the "well" gets deeper you are chalking different parts of the tip. My solution is to drill it out now and then with a drill ball I bought off eBay that returns it to a very close approximation of its original curvature.
