John,
You've just described an acme thread,'flat crest and trough'. A true acme has a 29 degree included angle (per side = 58 degree). You are claiming it to be a 60 degree. I didn't come here to quibble about kibble. I did state it to be a 'modified' acme. There are other variations of it's thread, from a true acme, that qualify it to be called modified. Just sharing what I know.
I was under the impression that acme was 15 and 15. Being 30 total. I cna't remember all of this. I have the machineist handbook for this reason. You may be right I may be wrong can't remember. Just looked it up. http://www.diracdelta.co.uk/science/source/a/c/acme thread/source.html You decide modified acme or 60 degree with flat crest and root. Both right.

I find 2 distinct disadvantages to the Uni-Loc pin & insert system. The cue will loosen during play all by itself from impact & vibration. I believe this is due to minimal thread contact, 1 turn, 1 thread.

i have been using a cue with a uni-loc pin exclusively for three years, i play league once a week (twice last year) and practice once or twice a week for 3-4 hours a night, and i have NEVER had it come loose during play. i read somewhere that joint protectors are a MUST for uni-loc, so that stuck in my mind and the cue is never without them when it is apart.

i also agree with joey about the hit, my cue hits just fine. i would pay money to someone who can blindly tell me the difference between a uni-loc pin and insert, and any other steel and brass combo.

Same here...I have a uni-loc cue and it plays nice and has never come loose...

I too play with a uni-lock, and love it. The cue has joint protectors on at all times when it is apart, but I did notice a couple burrs, from a cue repair guy who didn't know what he was doing. I'll have you look at it when I send it to ya Ryan...

Uni-Loc* Threads

I made Uni-Loc* butt joint caps awhile back and made it with 11 TPI.
I measured it with a screw pitch gage and came-out with 11 TPI, standard 60* v thread with a flat top.
I then read somewhere it was 10 TPI. I thought I was wrong and assumed it was 10 TPI. ....I should have known better, trust the thread pitch gage.
No Big Thing....FYI
