Tap Pool League- Accountant\Players Wanted - Today, 05:25 PM
Interesting topic here...

When I played in this league the 9 Ball handicap system was a complete farse. I observed players who had 75- 80 % win percentages, who's handicaps never changed over 20 plus matches. This in itself told me the handicap system did'nt work.

Went to their National event in Louisville which was without a doubt one of the worse train-wrecks I have ever seen.

Played in a mini-tournament that started Friday night, and wasn't finished until two or three days later. No table lighting, and ball-room chandeliers and 20 foot high ceilings with flourescent fixtures, would not be what I would consider acceptable playing conditions for a National Championship. They had no where near enough tables for an event dubbed as a national event.

After a huge controversy over handicaps T.D. directors announced there would be no handicap raises in the remaining matches (I believe they were down to 4 teams at that point) Once the announcement was made, I then observed a team from Florida's handicap 3's and 4's run a number of racks and destroy a team that was pretty close to 5-6 skill levels (overall)under handicapped themselves, they had no chance of winning.

For me to ever consider this league as any kind of formidable option compared to any other nationally operated league, I would think they would have to at least run a national tournament on somewhat of a comparable level as the ACS,BCA,APA,and VALLEY leagues.

The complete disorganization of tournament operations, no "real" working handicap system ,and lacking basic acceptable playing conditions it is hard for me to consider this league to be much more than a feeble attempt to provide players a worthy alternative to any other nationally operated league I have played in.

In all fairness keep in mind this has been a number of years ago, however my description is fairly accurate and spot on, as it was such a miserable experience I certainly have not forgot. It was such a poorly ran event, there is no need for me to embellish the details. I would be curious to know the following questions :

Where is the National Event held now ?
How many tables do they have for this event ?
IS THERE TABLE LIGHTING ?
What measurable improvements have been made since the event in Louisville ?
Do you still have different league operators using their own version
and variations of score sheets ?
Will you post your score sheet here, so players can get a feel for what it's like, and what is required to keep score on a match ?
What is the turn-over % of players who play one or two sessions and switch back to another league ?
How many teams\players were at last years national event ?

Are you from the APA? I noticed you only just registered.

There is too much bashing here of all Leagues. There is always someone who will be unhappy in any situation, the question should be are the Majority of your players happy? It would seem, at least in TAP, that they are.
