Hi Guys


How many different types of tapers are avaliable (shafts). pro, standard , double tapered anything else?

and 2ndly how do you comapare 2 cues hit? are there any tests or you know by simply playing with it.

I don't think there are too much variety when it comes to what shaft taper you would perfer but how long you want your taper to start. There are the famous pro-taper (which is around 12.5" from the ferrule) and the European conical (which starts tapering right on the ferrule). Ray Schuller has a webpage which explains different varieties of different tapers but IMHO, there are cue repairmen who can create a shaft and have it on whichever desired taper.

The longer the taper, the whippier it is: which means you can put English (or side) alot better only you would sacrifice control.

The shorter the taper, the more control you will have on the CB only English will be difficult.
