I doubt there are any accustats tapes of him (and most if not all of the other Taiwanese players) since they rarely play in the US, but does anyone know where I can get some tapes of him playing in other tournaments like the WPC? I am interested in watching the finals of the '99 WPC which was Chao vs Reyes.

Actually it wasn't Chao that Reyes played in the 1999 WPC final, it was Hao-Ping Chang.
Fong Pang Chao won the 2000 WPC, beating Ishmael Paez in the final something like 17-3 or 17-4. Chao was really in dead stroke in that match.

Just saw a great match between Nick Van DeBerg and Chao in the 2005 WPC. Chao played the Stone Face Killah to the max.

The 2004 WPC semi-final match between Chao/Pagulayan was a classic hill-hill thriller

The 2000 Semi Final match Chao vs. Deule was a close 11-9 score if I remember right.

Chao also won the ICC a few times.

There IS an Accu-stats Chao tape. He's playing Neils Feijen at the Tokyo 9 ball Open. It isn't on their website, but it's sold right here on AZ.:)

Funny, I bought that tape to study Chao and became a Neils fan in the process...

Iv'e got a 2001Tokyo Open 9 Ball Final, Reyes/ Feijen. Was your tape from 2001 as well?

For sheer drama, the 2001 ICOC finals between Bustamante and Chao are unbeatable; both make amazing shots, and the final tie-breaker rack has more jaw-droppers than you will see in many a match.

2001 is correct. Outstanding play by both players.

I have 4-5 video files of chao in RMV/AVI format on my computer from WPC and a couple others, im at work right now so i dont know the specifics.

Hey recoveryjones, those matches you list, is there any way you have those as a video file (avi, mpeg, rmv) on your computer? If so anyway of getting a few dvds worth of videos? DVD disks can hold almost 5gigs, that should be at least 7-8 matches per disk. Let me know, im always interested in increasing my selection. Id rather have files on my harddrive than disks laying around, but i will sacrifice for dvd copies if thats all you can do.

PS-- if anyone is interested in a dvd copy FS list with hundreds of matches in 9ball,8ball,1pocket,14:1,3cushion pm me and ill hook you up with the list.

YES I just saw this last week on ESPN Classic. To top it off in 2003 the same two meet again!!
I have become a big Chao fan!

I would personally recomend Chao vs Pagulayan in the L8 of the 04 WPC, it was one of the best matches of the last few years with both world class players at the top of their game.

Is that the one where it's hill-hill and Chao pushes out to a jump shot and misses?

Another question..for those of you who know Taiwanese players well, is Yang the best player out of Taiwan ever, or would it still be Chao? I don't mean from credentials, I mean just playing ability. My friend from Taiwan says Yang is known there now as the the student of Chao who has surpassed the master.

Defintley one of the better WPC matches I've ever seen. That hill-hill game was really something special.

Just talked to a guy (In Canada) from Taiwan today. Yang is the most talented , however, with all of his immense talent has not won as many big matches as Chao and others. He is supposed to be simply amazing with the cue stick.

Also yes, Chao did push out in the Hill-hill game into a jump shot. Prior to that he had Pagulayan parked in his chair for 1/2 hours as he came back from a 10-5 deficit by running 5 racks in a row, or something simuliar to that.

Yang is the most favourite and best player in taiwan. He was the winners of 1998 & 2002 Asian Game 9-Ball single (taiwanese regard Asian Game and WPC as the most important events), 2001 World Game, 2005 Philippine Open (the only foreigner took the crown home in the Philippine in the past few years), 2005 Green Time Super Cup and ranked No. 1 in the 2005 San Miguel Asian 9-Ball Tour over Efren Reyes, Wu, Francisco Bustamante and Chao etc. But it's a pity he is always lazy to take long-distance trips.
