If it was because of free advertising, then what about having links to web sites and or other ways of presenting information about personal businesses, a person's preferred retailer, Eddie Wheat's threads proclaiming his innovativeness and services, or pool tours in signatures? What about someone who puts a Predator or Cuetech logo in their avatar or the signature area?
Isn't that advertising of a sort also? If 10 unique people per day read a post by someone with that in their signature, it comes out to 3,650 views for a business venture per year. Whole lotta free advertising right there.
