You know what's cool as well. Listen to it. I put it on my Ipod and sometimes I will just listen to the movie instead of watching it. It's kind of cool to "see" the movie playing in my head as I am listening to dialog.

At 17 I was such a dweeb I watched it and immediately went to The Pool Room by Will Rogers Park and grabbed a table and put a hundred dollar bill on the rail. I didn't even know then that Gary "The Bushwhacker" Nolan was the manager and it's lucky for me that he either wasn't there or didn't see the movie because I was trying really hard to lose that hundred. No one stepped up or called anyone to play me. I felt like a real player..........

I kind of like that flick myself.

I remember when it came out in 1986, just like it was yesterday. About a dozen of us "regulars" at the pool room were waiting for its first screening.

Finally, the night of the first screening, we all jumped in our cars and drove in a caravan over to a real old-fashioned theater in the neighborhood named Avalon, where it was playing. It was so cool. We were all sitting in the back rows, munching on our large popcorns loaded with butter.

I was excited as could be. I mean, for us pool people, this movie was like a monumental event.

When the gambling scenes came up, we'd be cheering and laugh out loud. Everybody else in the theater was as quiet as a churchmouse. During some portions, we erupted with a round of applause. :o

I actually have a very fond memory of seeing that movie for the first time with my pool buddies. :)

Paul Newman is classic.

Interesting observations about this clip: Tom Cruise plays left handed .... and, the ferrule on his cue is BLACK.
