Teaching Kid to Play

What is the best way to teach a kid to play pool? My 11 year old loves to play and makes some balls already. We play on a 9 foot GC and he uses the bridge when needed. Do I focus on form? A crate to elevate him around the table? He really loves the time spent playing and wants to run balls.

For sure get something for him to stand on that gets his head to the correct height and allows full use of his arms in a stroke.
After that I would advise watching the Tor Lowry lessons Doctor Daves videos and maybe Joe Tuckers info.
I think with all that, he could be a high level player if he puts in the time and has the desire. I am sure there is other great material out there but these are the ones I have experience with.

If he is 11 and average height... I would not encourage something to stand on. For one... someone out there (yes its happened to us 2x) will complain and say one foot needs to be on the floor. But my son being 8 now doesn't need anything to stand on except racking on a 9' table. Last year when he started, he used a folding step from home depot for a few of his shots. Until we found an extension that could be attached to another extension, makes the cue close to 70" long.

There are shots he simply cannot reach even with a bridge so we use 2 extensions attached to get to the cue ball.

Take away his x-box.
And computer
And cell phone.

Give him his own cue.
Get him a baseball bat and glove, and a basketball, and a soccer ball, and a bike.
A large bag of baseballs...
And an airsoft gun.

Good luck sir.

I have never used this, but for 42bucks, might be worthwhile
